This version of Charades is your standard, run of the mill, game of charades – only with a Halloween theme. If you don’t want to try something new and want to stick to the beginning, this fun Halloween game is great! Choose a large space like your living room or playroom and get started!

Maybe you’ve played charades before, but if so, I’d be quick to reach out to young people or younger audiences who don’t follow charades!
Divide into two groups. Choose the group you want to go to first. Pick one player from that team to go first.
As you speak, the player must choose a word, spell it out, and try to get their team to guess it before time runs out. No speaking, chanting or speaking – just doing.

Players point to things like “sounds” to their ears, pretend it’s a movie by rolling the camera roll, and share your words using your fingers.
Continue playing until all teams have gone to the allotted time. The team that guesses the most words wins.
Reverse Charades is one of my all-time favorite games for adults, but it’s great for all ages! It’s one of the funnest ideas when different age groups play together!

Reverse charades work with no difference from the standard game of charades above – instead of the whole group guessing when one person does, the whole group guesses when one person guesses the words. More people do something for you. A better chance for a group to guess the words!
Play until everyone on each team has had a chance to be a bettor. The team with the most expectations wins.
Note: For both of the above games, instead of trying to get the team to guess one word within a time limit, you can speed up your progress with words by having them guess as many as possible within the timer.

Now things get a little more complicated. Instead of the usual Halloween charade words—like ghosts, pumpkins, and trick-or-treating—the word list includes only the names of Halloween movies and songs. These free printables are also included as a PDF download at the bottom of this post!
This game is still playing the same way but it’s better for adults who watch or listen to most of the songs and videos.

Feel free to dance (hello thrillers!), shoot, clap, and point to things in the room to ease your group’s expectations. As you begin, you’ll want to introduce your group to a movie or song.
I’m not sure if people can play our song, but still, as a fun Halloween music idea, try the Halloween theme that opens the game! It’s a good time!

Since Halloween is all about dressing up and dressing up as different characters, this game of charades is just that – in character.
When it’s your turn, choose not only a charades word (e.g. pumpkin) but a character (e.g. monster).
When you follow the word, you should follow the word that allows people to guess the words and your behavior. So, if you get the pumpkins and ghosts right, they will fly around the toothpick to get the pumpkins from the pumpkins.

If you’ve never played Catch Phrase, you’re missing out. It’s my family go-to because it’s a simple game, a quick game, and easy for everyone. Unless English is your second language, which makes it a bit more difficult but still doable.
In Catch Phrase you get a word and instead of saying it, you have to explain it in every way so that your team can guess it (without using the word on the card).
Divide into two groups and sit in a circle – alternating members of different groups. Use the timer to play the perfect catch phrase game or download the Phrase Party app and time them to make sure the timer is random.
Catchy Halloween Slogans & Scary Halloween Phrases
When you start the timer, the first person reads a card and tries to get their team to guess the word on the card. When you do, pass the card to someone in the circle and try. Keep going around the circle until the noise goes away. When whichever team has a card on the buzzer loses that card, the other team gets a point.
If you want to use their game (and play the game), you can buy the actual game here. If you want to have more fun then you will find it around. A little bit for family night!
The simple idea is that you use a Halloween song card and instead of making a card, people just have to stand up and sing the word doo. Full instructions on this game.

If you want to do something that people can sit down to, Halloween cartoons are a great option for charades. It works great if you want to play Halloween for adults or have multiple generations at your party.
Instead of doing the words on the card, whoever turns has to draw the words. You can use all the Halloween Charades cards (movies, songs and all) or just the Halloween Charades cards! Just decide based on who’s available and the level of difficulty you want.
Oh and remember to decide at the beginning of the game, not halfway! It’s a good idea to make sure everyone knows the rules of charades (or whatever they’re playing) before you start!

This is one of my favorite games when I want to play for fun but can’t get up and do it! It’s perfect for any time of the year – Halloween or not!
Start with the young ones first because they look crazy! And if they get bored in the rest of the game, they still have time to go!
Remember to set rules if someone can or cannot pass and what the rules are for passing. Often you can only get through if you don’t know what it is – we say not if you don’t know how to let go. This often comes into play with popular titles, movie titles and songs.

Stick to popular pop culture items rather than obscure TV shows or book titles that most people have never heard of. Not only do you want the actors to act out the words, but you also want the audience to come up with the answers!
