Girl With The Dragon Tattoo American Series – Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, a trio of novels pairing a disgraced journalist with a punk hacker, was an international phenomenon. The books sold millions of translations worldwide and were shown in both feature films and extended versions on TV in Sweden. David Fincher directed the English version of the first novel, which in my opinion was an excellent adaptation, but for many the original Swedish version provided the definitive screen versions of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. It was released both as a feature film trilogy and as an extended version as a Swedish TV miniseries.
Niels Arden Oplev’s adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2009) takes a tougher approach, but the film still works thanks to a strong story and Noomi Rapace’s undeniably wild portrayal of Lisbeth Salander, an embittered criminal hardened by wild life. A young woman. She struggles to survive in this predatory world, before she becomes embroiled in a decades-old murder mystery that uncovers old secrets. Michael Nyqvist is considered the main character of the plot, the investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who gets out of prison after being convicted of defamation (he was framed, caught) and agrees to take the cold case, but Salander, who uses his hack . Mikaela is interested in freelance investigative skills for clients who don’t care how she gets the information. It’s the first act of altruism we’ve seen from her… even if it’s a matter of revenge. And revenge is something she knows and seeks with ferocity.

The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009) is an improvement on the first film, moving away from the first film’s murder mystery conventions, focusing on Salander’s sinister past, which returns with a vengeance. Emphasis on Revenge: This region is as dark as the first film, but more personal. Director Daniel Alfredsson is not an action director and fails to create anything resembling suspense, but he is more responsive to the characters and puts the relationship between Lisbeth and Mikaela at the heart of the thriller, which is all the more impressive because they rarely share. Despite Screen Lisbeth’s tendency to keep everyone at arm’s length, this relationship is stronger and more engaging this time, not a narrative dialogue, but a personal connection. But the film belongs to Lisbeth, who is active, smart, fierce, angry and determined with Mikael’s support.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo: Book 1 Review
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (2009) wraps up the story more effectively with passion. Director Alfredsson goes through the motions of the exposition-heavy plot as if it were a checklist, and the ferocity of Lisbeth’s portrayal of Rapace and Nykvist’s conviction as the loyal Mikael lend personality to the somber picture of justice. By the end of the film, it becomes an arch, sloppy courtroom drama where the tables are turned with such colorless systematic precision that poetic justice seems spoon-fed. And yet the story is so vivid, and Lisbeth so fascinating, that they leave the movies and satisfy until the conclusion.

The last time American audiences saw Swedish hacker Lisbeth Salander on the big screen. screen, it was 2011 when the English remake of the Swedish film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo starred Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. The film was produced by Sony-owned Columbia Pictures, the company that owns the rights to Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy and subsequent books in This World, which Larsson wrote after his death in 2004. For fans of the 2011 film, Mara was the perfect Lisbeth, so the announcement in 2017 that the series would be rebooted with The Crown’s Claire Foy was met with some confusion. Before the new Spider-Man movie debuts in November, here’s as much of the story as we know.

Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy was originally adapted into a trilogy of Swedish-language films starring Noomi Rapace; The 2011 film was the first English remake of the trilogy. After 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was well received by audiences and critics, director David Fincher expressed interest in filming two other adaptations (The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest). Scripting difficulties delayed the planned release of Plaid with Fire in 2013, but as of late 2014, Fincher was still confident that the series would go ahead as planned, although Star Mara was less optimistic about the series continuing.
Mara and Fincher turned out to be right. In 2015, Sony announced that the series would eventually continue, but not with the original trilogy of books. Instead, the imminent reboot will be paired with “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” based on David Lagerkrant’s 2015 novel, which continued the series after Larsson’s death. The new film has an all-new team, which also means recasting of key roles. Alicia Vikander was the early favorite to play Lisbeth, but it was reported in September 2017 that The Crown star (and Emmy winner!) Foy won the role. Foy is the most recognizable name in the cast to American audiences, with the rest of the cast filled out mostly by European actors lesser known in the US.
Playing the elegant, sophisticated Queen Elizabeth II, very different from the punk hacker Lisbeth, we’re sure Foy’s talent for intensity and command of the scene will make her the perfect fit for the new role!
