Hello Orlando! I’ve been here for a few days to celebrate Walt Disney’s 50th anniversary. The center was first opened on October 1, 1971. Over the next five decades, things changed a bit.
I had time on my first day, so I went on a tour of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Star Wars Galaxy Fields. This part of the park immerses you in the world of Star Wars and includes two signature attractions – the Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run and Rise of the Resistance. Pat Tomasulo and I took a trip to Hollywood Studios a few years ago.
We Tested Wi Fi And Cell Service For Rise Of The Resistance Boarding Groups At Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Rise of the Resistance is one of the most popular theme parks. You go through different elements of the show as you team up with the Resistance before being captured by the First Order. That’s when you board the First Order starship and escape. There are a lot of moving parts to this journey, which has led to many days off work and some changes in driving.
When Rise first opened, visitors tried to log in on their phones and join the virtual queue. If you are successful in your application, you can create a “starter group”. You are then instructed to return to the attraction when the boarder is ready to board. However, this means you should plan your day around this one attraction and have enough time to get back to the Rise area when your boarding is about to be called.
Of course, there were many others who weren’t lucky enough to join groups after their trips to Disney World, hoping to actually go on a ride. While virtual queuing has eliminated people waiting for hours to ride a single ride, it has also resulted in many desperate people not being able to ride at all.
That all changed in the past few days when Disney Parks announced that Rise of the Resistance would no longer offer virtual queues and would be moving to a waiting line. This means you can queue for it like any other attraction. That’s what I did yesterday.
The Unofficial Guide To Afternoon Arrival At Disney’s Hollywood Studios
I arrived at the entrance to Rise of the Resistance on Tuesday around 3:15pm. At that time, the journey had to wait 75 minutes.
The line was constantly moving, but moving at a pace that really allowed us to see all the detail the design team put into this attraction. As you turn each corner in turn, there are more details that lead you into the history of the journey.
They even got creative with the seats to get a quick seat! These are some touches before I really have to wait.
On the rise, but Disney is doing the waiting part itself. You walk into a waiting room and Rei appears as a hologram explaining what’s going on.
Rise Of The Resistance Won’t Be Part Of Extra Magic Hours
Then you board the boat, where you wait for a while, but there is also an element of the show.
All this happens before you get into the cars. Cast members play the role of the First Order, the bad guys who try to interrogate members of the Resistance (us). A cast member walked past the kids waiting in the hallway and asked if they knew where the rebel base was. Another cast member laughed at a father who, like his children, didn’t follow directions. Again, they wait.
The car itself is an explosion. As I said, Pat and I sat down before we opened it, you can see our full thoughts and video here….
I noticed a few changes this time around. The big guns fired from the ship did not turn back. Kylo Ren’s lightsabers don’t cut through the ceiling above you. And the awesome Kylo Ren animatronic didn’t work and was covered at the end of the ride.
Light The Fire! Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance Continues To Thrill Thousands At Disney’s Hollywood Studios
When all was said and done, I left the ride 50 minutes after getting on the emergency line and was not stopped. No more stress from waking up early to check your phone. Look at my watch or app all day and don’t know what the boarding groups are called. I’m sure the wait time would be longer on busy days, but the time I spent in line gave me more time to appreciate the details of the line and enjoy the attractions.

With the launch of Disney Genie in My Disney Experience, we’re choosing Genie+ and the Lightning Bolt at Walt Disney World. Of course, one of the most popular rides is Star Wars: The Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so it was one of the first attractions we booked at 7am.

Lightning Bolt availability is constantly updated, showing the closest time to my Disney experience. By 9:15 p.m., the next window started at 7:00 p.m.
