Last week I fell into the difficult task of taking down the Christmas decorations. It’s not as fun as putting them in December. I usually leave it too late. Partly because Christmas is fun and I hate to say it’s over, but mostly because I’m angry about the end of the boxing season.

My feet hurt from standing on the hard floor for hours as I took things off the Christmas tree and gathered decorations from every room in the house. I always miss a thing or two and find it days or weeks later in the dark.

How To Store Decorations After The Holiday Season
If the original box has a long life, consider repurposing the metal jewelry storage container! These are great for storing delicates and breakables, and these tins are often pretty enough to display as decorations on the table or under the tree during the holidays!
The Dollar Store is a great place to find cans of cookies for this purpose, or you can do as I did and just collect and pack in time from gifts or food packages. Consider chocolate, wine, or other foods that can be served in a special metal container. I use paper Boy Scouts popcorn cans (that my parents saved from the early 1990s!) and a nice clean and gold tin that originally held a bottle of chardonnay!

How I Store My Christmas Decorations!
Tissue paper is usually found after opening a gift on Christmas morning. Don’t throw it away! Take a few minutes to gather all the tissues together and fold them up for reuse next year. White napkins are perfect for wrapping up your delicate treats before leaving.

Consider setting it aside so you can easily give it a go next fall if you choose. Christmas should stay in our hearts all year round. It can’t stay in our house 24/7. Eventually the day comes when we have to get rid of everything. Pack it all up and leave it at that
