The Dollar Store is a great place to find cans of cookies for this purpose, or you can do as I did and just collect and pack in time from gifts or food packages. Consider chocolate, wine, or other foods that can be served in a special metal container. I use paper Boy Scouts popcorn cans (that my parents saved from the early 1990s!) and a nice clean and gold tin that originally held a bottle of chardonnay!

Tissue paper is usually found after opening a gift on Christmas morning. Don’t throw it away! Take a few minutes to gather all the tissues together and fold them up for reuse next year. White napkins are perfect for wrapping up your delicate treats before leaving.

Another cute little cookie that I can use for decorating – it doesn’t have to be Christmas themed! I love this tin with the strawberry and bird on it for decoration along with the red and green, don’t you? Perfect!
