The Mall at Johnson City is an indoor shopping mall in Johnson City, Tennessee, United States. The mall has over 90 shops and a food court. It is operated by Washington Prime Group.
Centre Theatre, 1939–56 — A Peterborough Movie Going History
Opened in 1971, the mall has Dick’s Sporting Goods, two flagship stores, Belk and JCPenney locations, and over 90 online stores.
Construction on the mall began in the early 1970s and it opened on March 17, 1971. This one-story mall is the second who’s who of the Tri-Cities. The mall had two major landmarks, a grocery store, a drug store, a five-cent McCrory, and a movie theater. Several local shops from the Tri-Cities were also on display. This mall was originally called “Miracle Mall Shopping Cter”.
The mall underwent an expansion in the early 1980s. There was a new addition to the mall. This new upper level was almost as large as the original mall. It included a JCPney

It was located downtown until the 1980s and was a Miller’s department store. An addition has been made to the lower level allowing access to the new upper level with escalators and lifts. This is also when the mall saw the retirement of an original Kroger anchor and move to their own store across the street. Piccadilly moved into part of the old Kroger space.
As the region continued to grow, so did the commercial center. Miller’s Departmt Store was converted to Hess’s before Hess closed in bankruptcy. The mall underwent a major renovation, which included the addition of a new food court on the lower level while transitioning to the upper level. The development included a new anchor store behind the mall in the former theater space. The original tant was by Proffitt. The store opened in 1992 when the now-vacant Hess store briefly became Proffitt’s Home Store. Parks-Belk was acquired by Proffitt in the late 1990s and transformed into a M’s, Kid’s and Home Improvement department. This led to the closing of the Profit House store, which was later leased to Goodies Family Clothing. Glimcher Reality bought the mall in 1996 for $44 million.
In 2006, Proffitt’s was acquired by Belk and led to the dual anchor change. Belk was once again a leading retailer in the Tri-Cities after the transformation.

Right, a number of major additions and expansions are underway. Several stores, including American Eagle Outfitters and GameStop, were relocated from the lower level as space previously occupied by Kroger and Piccadilly restaurants was demolished to make room for Dick’s Sporting Goods.
