Some say that Epcot stands for Everyone Comes Out Tired because of its size.

After the success of Disneyland, Walt wanted to use all the knowledge he and his team had gained to create a better land. But it wasn’t just the theme park. He wanted to create an innovative and futuristic city where people could live and work.
Here’s a video of Walt Disney talking about The Florida Project and announcing his vision for Epcot.
He was concerned about how our city should be planned. He had a vision of future urban planning. It involved the integration of residential life with a commercial center in the heart of the city.
“I don’t think there is a more important challenge for people anywhere in the world than finding solutions to our urban problems.”

He envisioned a hub and spoke design similar to the one used in Disneyland. His downtown Epcot was to be called Progress City.
The heart of Progress City was the commercial center, with a 30-story convention center and luxury hotel at the heart of the community. It is a hotel

Residential areas can be “dense apartments” closer to the city or less dense plots outside the city center.
Cities are served by complex transportation systems that transport people to and from hubs.
The plan was to have three different levels, with the hotel, shopping and entertainment center on the top floor.
In this part of the city there are no cars on the streets with people.
Epcot Transformation Is Underway, Here’s How The Park Is Changing
All transportation systems will be electric vehicles on Earth. In other words, it is the same monorail in Disney World and the movement of people in Disneyland today.
The bottom level is a complete road system where people can drive their cars, without stoplights.
Probably a great idea in Orlando, Florida! Imagine perfect temperatures all year round, no humidity, no rain.
Imagine if the original idea of Epcot had ever been created, how would our lives be different if this idea had succeeded and been chosen as a model for the city of the future? The world looked very different.
Nighttime Shows At Walt Disney World
For years, no one knew where to direct their dreams. In the end, it was decided that the original form of tomorrow’s experimental forum was not a viable idea.
This video offers a new perspective on the Epcot Center theme park. Certain ideas were taken from the original, but few of Walt’s original ideas survive.

Rumor: Epcot Adding Future World Hotel That Will Stand Over The Park’s Entrance In Front Of Spaceship Earth
How cool would it be if the original concept of Epcot became a reality? If Walt Disney’s dream of experiential communities comes true, the implications for how cities and community designs will change are enormous.
Walt was a firm believer in the constant evolution of the Disney parks. Design should never stand still. He once spoke about Epcot and said:
In August 2019, Disney announced major changes to Epcot. This is one of my favorite Disney parks, but I know many feel it has been idle for too long and needs a redesign.
Disney had big plans for Epcot. Unfortunately, these plans have been delayed and some may never come to fruition, but Epcot has many exciting changes planned for the future.

It’s not yet clear exactly how many of Epcot’s originally announced changes will be implemented. Some will decrease, some will not happen at all.
Some of the announced changes have already been completed. Examples include Circle-Vision 360 Canada Far And Wide, Japan’s new Takumi-Tei restaurant, and the Disney Skyliner extension to Epcot.

Many other projects have been announced for Epcot’s renovation, but they seem questionable:
As you can see in this overview of Epcot’s past, present, and future, Epcot is moving away from Walt Disney’s original vision.
Tomorrow’s prototype community is neither a place to live nor a place to work, with an enclosed climate-controlled dome and an innovative transportation system.
Epcot is clearly a theme park. And it’s still a great place to visit. It will be interesting to see how Epcot changes over the next few years.

To say that Walt Disney dreamed big would be an understatement! He was always thinking about his next project and wondering if it would be even bigger than the ones he had done in the past.
Perhaps his greatest ambition was what he called The Florida Project, later known as Walt Disney World. Inside The Florida Project was his proud and joyous adventure EPCOT.

No one knows for sure, but many say that the 1964 World’s Fair in New York was one of the beginnings of the Epcot story. Walt introduced the first carousel of progress, which was later moved to Disneyland. This amazing attraction takes you to what Walt would later call “Progress City.”
Added to his vision was his obsession with clean and simple transportation methods such as people movers and monorail systems. Ultimately, he didn’t like the way the modern city looked and functioned, he felt it could be made more efficient, cleaner, and an overall better living experience.
It was an idea he came up with along with a lot of land he had acquired in Florida. Why not build your own city? A futuristic city that celebrates human achievements!
Walt’s vision for Epcot was not a theme park, but an actual city! A futuristic utopia with residential and commercial centers and a mass transit system with monorails and people movers.
