Ahead of their first concert back as a group, Big Time Rush sat down to talk about their comeback, what happened during their hiatus and the group’s future. Check out our Q&A with the team below.
Your recovery has been working for some time. When will you start making new music together?
Kendall: We started doing a few Zoom episodes first. We didn’t start working on music and the pandemic, so we were trying to figure out what we were going to do and were like, ‘Okay, let’s use this time to try and write some songs.’ I think it should start in April. And we never find something we like until we get together. “Call it like I see it” was the first song we finished. It’s like, ‘Oh good, it’s like [what we’re aiming for] and it’ll be early 2021.
Big Time Rush Virtually Reunite To ‘spread That Love’ To Fans During Coronavirus Pandemic
Logan: We started the whole process about two years ago in 2019 to talk about it and decide, ‘Hey, we want to do this,’ and then [go figure out] how we do it. So we thought about finally being hereβ¦ this first song is like an umbrella for the sound we were going for and it’s a good message to carry over to other music.
After the band went on hiatus, you all went your separate ways and the three of you pursued other music careers. Does any of that influence your new sound as a unit?
Kendall: First of all, we met a lot of different people that we worked with. Everyone brought someone they worked with into their world and we just started working with all these people we gathered around us. It’s just a great team effort.
Big Time Rush Reunion: Timeline Of Clues And New Music
James: I think everyone grows in their own way – in all good ways too. So the whole process was more fun because of that. Sonically, I think the song just works better than it did before.
