With Tuesday’s news that Amazon is acquiring Ring, the maker of video doorbells and other smart technologies, it appears the tech giant is also acquiring Shaquille O’Neal, the veteran basketball star who has also become Ring’s spokesperson.
Over the years, the four-time NBA champion has endorsed a wide variety of products and services. A dedicated page on Ring’s website claims the 7 legs as the “home court” shield for customers using the company’s products. O’Neil even showed off one of his championship rings – Synergy!
“Shaq is more than just a big guy with a big personality,” Ring said on Shaq’s page. “Like Ring, he wants to reduce crime in the neighborhoods. So we recruited Sheriff Shaq to lead our team and pass you some savings!”

Whether O’Neill will remain a pitchman for Ring under Amazon remains to be seen. The company’s founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, proved himself to love the advertising spotlight with an appearance in an Amazon Laxa commercial during this year’s Super Bowl.
