“Well, for one thing, if you’re a man and you’re clapping, you’re not even a part of it,” Williams said. “You don’t even understand the rules these days. Women go out and brazen and then come home. You’re not in it.”
“I don’t care if you’re gay,” Williams said, adding that gay men don’t menstruate every 28 days. “You can do a lot of things that we can do, but the thought of us going through something that you will never go through offends me.”
Williams continued, “And don’t wear our skirts and heels,” which some interpreted as a nod to “The Pose” star Billy Porter. “I’m just saying, girls, what are we waiting for?”
Celebrating #pride Month!
“I say this as someone who once made a (very, very, very small) name for himself by describing celebrities who said homophobic (and other stupid) shit…” wrote one Twitter user. but @WendyWilliams is just a mess & really not worth the ire & better spent on someone/something more valuable.”
Another tweet read: “Really @WendyWilliams? What ignorance comes out of your mouth about gays wanting to be women! Really Wendy?”
“#WendyWilliams goes on a #anti-trans rant for no good reason. She whines about periods like periods are the most important thing about women,” someone else tweeted. “I’m sorry Wendy. You don’t get to decide who a woman can be. Everyone gets to decide who she is.”
What Happened To The Wendy Williams Show?
Several Twitter users came to the defense of Williams, who spent more than 20 years as a radio host before starting “The Wendy Williams Show” in 2008.
“You know, I tell you every day, and I mean it, and I’ll continue to drill it into your mind: it’s so scary to come out here and sit here alone with my mouth slack and my humor flat.” Williams said. “And you know, I’m alone.” I have no one to blame but myself.
“I’ll start by saying I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend my LGBTQ+ community with yesterday’s show,” Williams said.

“I’m very particular about my show and I can tell you one thing, I never do a show in a bad place,” he said. “From first grade, I understood my platform with the community. to high school to high school to college to radio and now to TV… I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m just talking. If you’ve known me long enough, you know.”
“I’m not freaked out. Except maybe yesterday to say what I said,” Williams said. “So I’m deeply sorry and appreciate the support from the community. I’ll be better.” Wendy Williams “gets” why some people think she’s actually a man. The host of the talk show revealed it in an interview

“I know. I have a strong face, strong body, I’m 5’11. I wear a wig. I get it,” she said with a polite smile. “Does it make me crazy? No.”
But that doesn’t mean Williams enjoys being called a man. “I understand where you’re coming from, but in my opinion there’s no worse way to insult a woman than to say she looks like a man… [but] there’s nothing I can call her for at this point. I’ve been doing this for decades.”

Something else the talk show host has dealt with over the years is abuse. As a child, Williams said her parents would be “ashamed” of her.
“I had a very tortured childhood,” he claimed. “I didn’t grow up being a popular girl or a popular cheerleader. I’ve never been prom, I haven’t had many boyfriends, so I’m used to being on this side of life.” Wendy Williams is apologizing after controversial comments about the LBGTQ community were deemed “homophobic” by social media users.
In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, the outspoken talk show host asked his studio audience Thursday who plans to celebrate Galentine’s Day, the unofficial holiday created on NBC’s “Parks & Recreation” where women celebrate the other women in their lives .
