Ways To Relax For Free – Do you ever have days where you plan to be mega-productive when you get home from work, but instead spend the night watching Netflix and scrolling through blog posts?
Welcome to my life, friends. It’s either that or I’m 100% focused on my blog and forget to do all the other things I’ve planned to do.
Ways To Relax For Free
Sometimes we are so tired from the day at work that all we want to do when we get home are mindless activities in an attempt to give ourselves a break, but it just becomes an endless cycle that leaves us feeling burnt out and unfulfilled .
How To Relax Your Mind And Body After Competition
There are also those times when you can’t switch out of work mode, so you end up stressing about unfinished business and what’s coming tomorrow. Those are the times
I realized that I didn’t really want to exert myself more this cycle, so I started making some changes to my after-work routine that made me feel more productive coming home from work. If you can relate to any of the situations above, give these tips a try and start making the most of your free time!
One of my monthly goals for August was to go for a walk after dinner, and I seriously never expected to want to
. My boyfriend and I really appreciated the time to wander around our neighborhood and not worry about anything for 20 minutes.

You’ve probably been sitting in an office all day, so some fresh air and some exercise will lift your mood dramatically. Leave your phone at home and allow yourself to zone out from Netflix and social media notifications.
Here’s my first tip to relax: Don’t check your work email. I haven’t set up a work email on my phone because I know it would stress me out just to get email alerts after I leave the office. It is very important to set limits on your time, because otherwise your work life will just slide into your personal life.
Most of us plan fun outings and activities on the weekends, but there are five days a week you can have fun too! Plan several mini-adventures throughout the week and make them a priority.
Maybe plan a date with a friend, try the new kickboxing class at the gym, or schedule a manicure. Something to get you excited for weeknights!

I’ve always cringed when people ask me what my hobbies are because, like most millennials these days, I don’t really have any. However, I have started learning to play the piano and would like to get to the point where I can call it my hobby. It is important to work on something you can be proud of, but which does not take up all your time. Think about what you loved to do as a child (dancing, playing tennis, painting) and see if you can get back to it again, or try something completely new like photography, salsa dancing or calligraphy!
PS If you think blogging is your only hobby, Daisy has a great post on why you need a real hobby, not just a chore.
A better way. Making something with your hands is a great way to relieve stress and take your mind off the to-do list, and then you can enjoy creating. If you’re feeling healthy and don’t want to bake anything, these Raw Brownies are absolutely amazing. But if you want something indulgent and naughty, try these Nutella Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies (you’re welcome to that recipe).
Take advantage of the free and affordable online resources out there! I took a free online nutrition course through Coursera, and while it may seem stressful or boring to take a class in your spare time, it’s a great way to learn about a new topic or deepen your learning in something you already enjoy.
Ways You Can Relax That Don’t Cost A Cent
I also started learning French using Duolingo because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and now I can do it for free (even though I’m pretty sure I’m terrible at it).
Brit + Co also has a great selection of creative networking sites including calligraphy, photography and floral illustration.
You have to give yourself some love every now and then. Most of us reserve Sundays for a nice cuddle time, but it can be just as important to treat yourself on a weekday. I love to take a bath, light a calming candle (like this one by Illume), put on a face mask, and dig into a good book. Plan some pampering in your calendar during the week and make sure you treat yourself!
Most of us work 9-5 jobs, which means we will only work on our blogs when we get some free time (in the evening). I’ve found that if I don’t set specific times to work on my blog, I stay up late because I haven’t set boundaries for myself. Now I spend 45 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the evening knocking out the most important tasks for my blog and work on less important tasks when I get a free moment during the work day.
Four Ways To Calm Your Mind In Stressful Times
Hello, my name is Catherine! I’m here to help you get out of your head so you can stress less and focus on what’s important. When you settle down to rest for the night, what should you do? It’s becoming more and more, and I accept that we need some screen time to help us relax and help our bodies relax into their natural rhythm. Not to mention that you can use your time more productively and improve your sleep.
The benefits of turning off screens at night are many, with many studies showing that some screen-free downtime improves your sleep, your ability to concentrate, helps you feel more rested in the morning, reduces anxiety and helps you prioritize and spend time on things . which are important.
For a while I got into a bad habit of watching TV or scrolling on my phone without doing much. It wasn’t a good way to spend my precious free time and I felt a bit tired to be honest. Mindlessly watching TV while scrolling through our smartphones has become a habit for many when it comes to unwinding at the end of the day. You end up not paying proper attention to any of them and not relaxing effectively.
Lately, I’ve been a lot more careful and intentional about my downtime, which means I rely a lot less on the TV and a lot more on some off-screen activities to help me wind down at the end of the day . I have found that they have helped me relax much more effectively and I don’t feel as tired or lethargic (on some days).
Stress: 10 Ways To Relieve Stress
Reading a book is one of the best ways to spend the night. It’s a great way to read more fiction or expand your knowledge on a subject that interests you. It is also a good way to wind down in bed, I would recommend paper books as opposed to their digital counterparts to help you wind down for the night.
Puzzles are becoming more popular now as people want to switch off their screens and it’s a great way to relax and keep your hands and mind occupied. I bought a 1000 piece puzzle and am waiting for a calm and rainy weekend to break it out on the dining room table.
I recently started learning to crochet and knit and found it very addictive. It’s a great way to keep your hands busy (and stops the urge to check your phone) and it feels great to make something. In addition, you will be able to enjoy what you have done.
The weather isn’t ideal for that at the moment (well not in Canberra where it’s very cold and very dark!) but going for a walk after work or after dinner is a great way to get some fresh air, spend some time in nature and , most importantly, avoid screens. I love going for a walk around the lake after work before I go home, I usually listen to a podcast while I do it and sometimes I like a night walk although I don’t really get to do it on nights when I have Grace. It’s always a good idea to exercise carefully and get some fresh air.
My Favourite Ways To Relax
If you have people around at night, playing a board game can be a great way to spend an evening and get some social time. It can be a lot of fun and there are so many great board game options now. I like games like Uno or Skip-Bo, Coup (like the killer game), Tokaido, Risk (which can take a long time), Taboo and classics like Monopoly.
Doing a crossword puzzle (or some other kind of logic puzzle) is a good way to exercise your mind. Now I usually do the crossword in the newspaper at lunchtime
