Rumors that many have spread over the years. Suffice to say, we’ve heard our fair share of Disney World myths, and you’ve probably heard it too.

But the gossip mill never sleeps. From stories about the destruction of Cinderella’s castle (?!) to rumors that the Princess and the Frog re-themed Splash Mountain has been cancelled, there are plenty of stories floating around. That’s why we’re here to debunk some of the big rumors you might be circulating online so you know what’s real and what’s totally fake!

Facts You Didn’t Know About Cinderella Castle

We start with a rumor that you may have seen the pop-up on your Instagram feed or TikTok account – Cinderella’s castle is reportedly going to be demolished in the near future. We even got a comment from one of our readers who asked us if the rumors were true.

The rumor seems to have started thanks to a TikTok post by @mousetrapnews or an account called The Mouse Trap. In the TikTok video, the narrator shares that Cinderella’s castle will be removed after its 50th anniversary, and then shows a modified photo of the Magic Kingdom with the castle removed. They also note that the news is “devastating” and there is no mention of what will replace the fort.

TikTok concludes by directing individuals to visit The Mouse Trap news site for more details. When you visit this website, you’ll understand what’s going on – you’ve fallen into your own mousetrap! In the “About” section, the folks behind The Mouse Trap describe their site as “the world’s best satire site” – so this isn’t real news!

They continue by noting that they “write fake stories about things at Disney parks,” and they share that “you can be sure that everything you read here isn’t true, real or true, but it’s fun.”

Ten Things You Didn’t Know About Cinderella Castle

So the rumor originated from a joke page and a satirical post – that is. There is no need to panic about the sudden disappearance of Cinderella’s castle. Now, that doesn’t mean Disney can’t or won’t modify Cinderella Castle in any way in the future. We have seen in the past how they gave their beloved icon color and new decorations. And probably the 50th anniversary decorations will have to come down after the festivities are over.

Future celebrations or just the days to come can give the castle a new color scheme, a change in decor, etc. can bring. However, so far we have not seen any signs of the castle being completely demolished in the future. Another rumor making its way onto the internet is that Disney has reportedly canceled the re-themed Splash Mountain attraction on The Princess and the Frog-themed ride.

This is another rumor starting from TikTok, as you guessed it, written by @mousetrapnews. As we mentioned above, The Mouse Trap is a satire-based site that writes fake Disney stories. They explain that they wrote “100% fictional stories for your entertainment”. And they seem pretty good at getting people to believe their stories, too. 😆

While we still haven’t gotten a ton of details about the Splash Mountain re-theme and it’s not as “rushed” as it might initially seem, the project appears to be moving forward.

In July 2022, Disney’s official fan club D23 took a look at Tiana’s new ride look. In July 2022, we received both the official name of the new ride and the opening timeline. And since then, we’ve been taking a look at some of the artworks aimed at inspiring those who work on the journey.
