Shapewear For Under Dresses – The holidays are just around the corner and we are entering the festive season. I love to wear pretty dresses to parties, but with party favors, I also love to dress up these dresses to make them look their best.
Fashion can be tricky, so today I’ve tried a few different brands and styles for you, and I’ll break down the pros and cons of each!

The Best Shapewear For Dresses
I’ve never tried this brand, but I did try both the mini shorts and the nude dress in the “nude” color. I really liked this color – it was a nice, natural nude so it didn’t show. Since they didn’t have hems, the bottoms didn’t stick to my legs or create streaks under my clothes.
The fabric was light on both of them but very well controlled. You can wear them all day or all night and never feel uncomfortable or tight. The shorts were great for stomach control and covered everything nicely without being too tight. The slip was the same – very flattering, and I liked how it came out rather than cutting under my breasts. It lifts my bust a bit and I never complain đŸ˜‰ The length is a bit long and it covers and shapes your legs very well, but not ideal for a short dress. It comes a few inches above my knees and I’m 5’6″.
The Commando’s are very reasonably priced—shorts are under $60 and slides are under $100—and based on the fabric, they’re durable and will see you through many, many wears. Definitely recommended.

I tried the slip (x-small) and the shorts (x-small/small). The slide was, of course, a standard slide, but it was made of a strange plastic fabric. It’s said to be smooth and thin, but to be honest, the paper was so thin that it didn’t impress me at all, and the strap was so thin it felt like it was going to break. And it was a little weak in X-age. I don’t recommend it.
The shorts were great. They were thick and very comfortable – a bit hard to sit on, but comfortable when worn in and well managed. They have a hem, so if you wear a dress made of a thin fabric, the bra may be exposed. It was held in place by silicone dots at the waist to prevent it from slipping. I really like these and they are a great price point.
BRAND #3: Spanx. Of course, Spanx is the most popular shapewear brand and has become a household name (have you ever looked at the list of household names? Very interesting). Since it’s such a popular brand, I was excited to see it stack up against other brands. I’ve seen high-waisted shorts in a petite, this body in a petite, and this body in a petite.

The briefs were my least favorite of the three Spanx pieces I tried, certainly not as good as the Commando or Yummie pants. It’s impossible to tell from the product image, but the nude color is grayer than the actual nude. Also, my stomach was very tight when my legs were normal. If you have a pear-shaped body, this will be great.
I loved both of these suits – the open chest was very slim and comfortable, and the color was nude (but very pale), but if you’re carrying weight around and have a large chest, this cut will be very flattering. if you cut you wrong, the next one will be fine.
The second suit was perfect. I loved the great color, super comfortable, built-in, all-in-one design elements. Plus it had bust support and lifted my bust a bit like the Commando.
