Although the coloring of eggs at Easter may be due to the story that Mary Magdalene brought eggs to the tomb of Jesus to share with other women, and when they saw the Lord the eggs turned red pale, the tradition of the hunt was more apparent. rooted in pagan traditions. In addition to the eggs, each family donated a toy ($5-$10) for the participating child. At the end of the hunt each child found about 25 eggs including one “shiny” egg that contained a “Sick Market” which they used to collect one of the gifts. Denise placed a small animal on the back of each card and called the children forward in waves according to the animal on their card. In the past few years, children from young to old got up to collect their gifts.

To help organize this and other community events Denise created a community page on Facebook which is a great way to connect with everyone. On site, Denise was able to recruit volunteers to help set up the day as well as mail out cookies, baked goods and juice after the hunt for everyone to gather and mingle.
