Mary J Blige Philadelphia – Music and cultural festivals went virtual in 2020 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and canceled all in 2021.
The Fairmount Park event has now been extended to two days, from Saturday June 4th to Saturday June 5th, and will feature Mary J. Blige, Summer Walker and Wizkid.

Fresh off LVI’s Super Bowl halftime show, Blige is supporting the festival’s namesake band, The Roots.

Phillies’ Jazmine Sullivan will perform alongside other performers including Kirk Franklin, Rick Ross, G Herbo and more.
Roots Picnic called the 2022 festival a “love letter to Philadelphia” and thanked fans for the past 15 years.

“We’re bringing you a 2-day festival (!!) of a mosaic of black culture. Experiences like music, podcasts and more,” he said.
Composer Valerie Coleman said Sanchez’s lines about the innocence of black children translated naturally into the score for the Philadelphia Orchestra’s new work.
In addition to musical guests, the live show, created by Philadelphia’s Wallo267 and Gillie Da King, will feature series such as Questlove Supreme, Jemele Hill Don’t Worry, and The Fuzzy & Quincy Harris FAQ Podcast.

Advance tickets go on sale online from 10am on Tuesday. Day and weekend tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10am.

Blige’s tour coincides with the release of Pitchfork’s album Good Morning Beautiful, which “combines uplifting, soulful affirmation with contemporary rap and R&B influences.”
