Auld Syne Lang Lyrics

Auld Syne Lang Lyrics – We all know the tradition of singing Auld Lang Syne to ring in the New Year, but do we know the poem or the lyrics? Most of us can’t get past the first line or two without help. That’s where this print design comes to the rescue.

Recently our family got together for New Years Eve and I decided to invite our neighbors to sing Auld Lang Syne at the appointed time. A nice man from our community made pottery and he agreed to come with us.

It’s been a tough year with Covid, and we’re all looking for a way to kick off 2020 on the pavement and look forward to a new year. Seems like the perfect solution to get everyone in the area together for a few minutes of music from their porches.

Chord: Auld Lang Syne

The weather was so cold, the strings were hard to play, and our music was off, but we loved the simple experience that brought us all together for a few minutes.

A little history lesson here. Auld Lang Syne was originally written as a poem by a Scot named Robert Burns in 1788. But it was based on an old Scottish folk song, and Burns said the lyrics to an unnamed old man. However, he is best known for the poem.

As you can imagine, it has been modified, modernized and redone several times. I decided to include a contemporary version in this print since the original poem is ancient Scottish and impossible for modern Americans to recite. You can sing along to the Dougie MacLean recordings you find on YouTube or just try your hand at a custom song.

The pattern here shows you all the verses, but we usually sing the first verse and the chorus. However, it is a lesson to show that there is more and at least take a look.

Auld Lang Syne, By The Byrds

Whether you want to sing Auld Lang Syne or beautifully display the poem at your family reunion, this print is a stylish way to do it.

The Scottish title actually stands for Old Long Since. Monday, most of us translate this as something like “for the good old days”. Then, at the end of a year, as we roar with newness, we celebrate what was and look forward to what could be. We get together with friends and remember the good times.

Hope Auld Lang Syne plays a part in your New Year’s tradition by sharing it with your children and posterity. It is a pleasure to pass with a key element of the celebration, the unity of decades of individuals and families.

With most of the country in virtual lockdown, New Year celebrations will be quieter this year.

Pubs and restaurants are closed, indoor gatherings are banned and fireworks will not take place as usual.

But that doesn’t mean people won’t celebrate the end of 2020 and be wary of whatever 2021 might bring.

One of the most popular New Year’s ballads is also one of the most mumbled, so before the ball drops on Wednesday, it’s probably a good idea to brush up on your skills with “Auld Lang Syne.”

To be fair, mumbling along with the songs may be partly due to parts of the song not being in English. The lyrics to “Auld Lang Syne”, attributed to Scottish poet Robert Burns, tell the story of old friends reminiscing about the fun times they had years ago.

Translated from Scotland, the title of the song is “Old Long Since”. Most people know the first two lines of the song, “Should we forget mine and not think about it?” but instead of “auld” they sing “old”. While the wrong word retains the same meaning, as “auld” means “old” in Scotland, the correct word is “auld”.
