According to the announcement, there will be “hundreds of characters” to choose from, but not all Disney characters will be included. If no character is selected before August 14th, Mickey Mouse will be used as the default. As of this writing, it is unknown if the new name tags will apply to Walt Disney World and other Disney parks around the world.

The Centennial Celebration of Magic, which began in 2001 at Walt Disney World, allowed cast members to choose their favorite Disney character or movie to appear on their tags. There’s no word yet on whether Walt Disney World will have new signage for the holiday, which begins as “The Most Magical Holiday on Earth” and ends in March 2023.

Of course, Disneyland is already rumored to be hosting a new nighttime show at the park called The Incredibles to celebrate Walt’s 100th birthday.

Maybe a drunk guy hits his girlfriend in the closet, then the baby falls out of the stroller at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Have you ever been walking around a resort and met an actor with a blue name? If so, then you’ve met a recipient of the Walt Disney Legacy Award, the highest honor any actor, Disney Imagineer, staff member or employee can receive. But what is the meaning behind the blue name tag? Here are 5 things you need to know about The Walt Disney Legacy Award.

Former Disney Employee Shares 15 Things Staff Really Wish They Could Tell Visitors

Each cast member selected to receive the Walt Disney Legacy Award is nominated by fellow cast members or peers. Every few years, cast members from around the world, from our parks to consumer products, will have the opportunity to witness other unique collaborations every day and bring Walt Disney’s enduring legacy to our guests and co-stars.

“I bring all the members of the team together and provide motivation, where everyone can be happy to be themselves.” – Wow, Disneyland Paris

All nominees for the Walt Disney Legacy nomination share three distinct qualities: dream, create, inspire. These three qualities are so common throughout the symphony of Walt Disney’s life that they serve as the basis for determining whether any actor’s performance is up to the level of receiving a Legacy Award. The nominated cast member must continually strive to make dreams come true by enhancing the Disney experience, creating innovative new ways to present the magic of Disney, and inspiring others.

The Legacy Award is a global recognition program that spans recipients from Disneyland Paris to Disney Consumer Products employees, meaning the Legacy Award name tag is one of the rarer name tags you’ll see almost anywhere.

“To be respected by my peers as someone who not only wants to do great work, but also to improve research and development, to make the experience of being a Visionary the best it can be… I am honored.” – Leslie, Walt Disney oversees research and development

We have thousands of actors worldwide, but less than 1% have the honor of being selected as a Walt Disney Legacy Award recipient. So, if you see an actor with a blue name, find out their story about this unique and prestigious recognition.

“There are so many great scholars who deserve this award. They don’t necessarily wear a blue name tag, but they do things every day that already make them heirs. I think that it is necessary to emphasize the examples that we see and recognize. – Moli, Aulani, Disney Resort and Spa

Members can start naming their peers. And while this is actor recognition, we can participate in actor recognition every day. From recommending a guest in Guest Relations to using #CastCompliment on social media, there are many ways to say “thank you” to cast members on our pitches. And if you’re unsure of the best way to propose on your next trip to Disney, ask a staff member to point you in the right direction.

My most exciting moment as a cast member was receiving my Walt Disney World name tag. I was a teacher when I was little, I asked for help from those white eggs and I was proud to wear it myself. You can see hundreds of these name tags while on vacation, and you can learn a lot from stopping to look.

Disneyland Resort Cast Members Receive New

Let’s start with the basics. The Walt Disney World label name will always be in the upper left, above the heart. The name is prominently centered and the Cast Member’s hometown is listed below. Casta members love meeting people in our hometown, so say hi if you see a place you know.

While a cast member is training, a red ribbon with the words “Win My Ears” is attached to their name tag. There will be a coach with them; coaches wear a Jiminy Cricket pin on their badge. Be kind to these advanced members – they’re still learning.

Some Cast Members name tags will have a college or university name instead of their hometown. This means that the Cast Member is a current or former participant in one of Disney’s internship and college programs. If you visit in January or August, the college program student you meet may be at a new job. Although they are highly trained in their jobs, they may not be experts in all things Disney. Some participants had never even been to a Disney World College program before starting their program. When communicating with college program members, remember that they are there to learn and may not be familiar with past policies or every department.

Cast members at Disney World come from all over the world. Language pins are available in over 50 languages. Advanced members with a language pin choose to take a short test to prove language fluency in order to earn a pin to their name. I have seen Cast Members with four tongue pins attached to their name tags. Guests from all over the world can meet Cast Members who speak their language, so if you see your language on their Pin, don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation.

When Cast Members work for Disney for more than a year, they receive a pin to celebrate their years of service. This pin is located on the top right of the name tag. The Steamboat Willy pin represents one year of service. Other significant years are given a pin with a sign and year number. Look out for those service pins if you want to talk to a Cast Member.

You can occasionally see a name tag behind the usual color scheme: an oval blue tag with white letters. Actors in blue are Walt Disney Legacy Award winners. These cast members are nominated by their peers to honor them for their exceptional service to Guests and dedication to the magic of Disney. (
