Best. So, I had so much fun planning this 60th birthday surprise with my sister-in-law! It was the funniest surprise birthday I’ve ever been to. I mean, my brother and sister-in-law came all the way from Idaho to be there! She should have seen her face when she came in and saw them there!
How To Throw A 60th Birthday Party
The main focus of the decoration was a huge collage of 60 sheets made of cardboard. I organized thousands of photos (fortunately my husband has this powerful photo organizer system) and converted them all to B&W (thought it would help make it more cohesive). I then collected refrigerator cases from a local appliance store and cut out 60 of them. I used old fashioned masking tape to place all the photos. So I used 3M hooks and stickers to hang on the wall.

It looks good if you hang the picture a little on the edge. When everything was ready, I still felt like I needed something. So the idea of looking around the Christmas lights came up. I was worried that it would be heavy, but the 3M hook holds up well.
For the color scheme, I chose gold, mint and peach. It’s a fun, girly color scheme that goes well with baby showers and girls’ parties. I have pom poms and banners from Amazon. And this is the one with the arrow. The bullets don’t match as a warning, but everything seems to come together nicely.
I tried to match sugarcookies to the color scheme. By the way, these are cat-raising cookies copied from Jamie Cooks it Up. You may have to try them. hmm. Now I feel like I need to build something. They are not your ordinary sugar cookies. no. These are extra. (It’s equally good if served refrigerated). But I miss!
Golden Celebration: 60th Birthday Party Ideas For Mom
I saw the idea of attaching pictures to balloons as part of a party decor and I really wanted to try it!
Just punch a hole in your photo and tie it to a balloon. But I learned a very valuable lesson. Make it double sided! The balloon is constantly moving with all the air currents in the room and it’s not a problem if you have a before and after picture. Glue another picture to the back using glue stick. I constantly ran around trying to get the picture forward.
And last but not least! I couldn’t leave you without a free print. I love the saying: “It took me 60 years to look this good.” Her aunt sent her dad a t-shirt for her 60th birthday and she thought it was funny. When you think of your 60th birthday, do not hesitate and do your best. When you leave your 50s behind and start a new decade, turning into your 60s is a big deal!
