Hackers Are Threatening To Air Donald Trump’s Dirty Laundry
Last week saw the news of the New York law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks being hacked.
The company represents entertainment industry clients including Lady Gaga, Drake, Elton John, Madonna, Robert De Niro, LeBron James, The Weeknd and Priyanka Chopra.
Its founder, attorney Allen Grubman, was named “the most powerful lawyer in the music business” by Vanity Fair in 2015.
Grubman Shire Hacked: Update
The hacker group, called Revil and also known as Sodinokibi, initially asked for $21 million for non-disclosure.
Another cybersecurity firm told Variety earlier this week that the hackers’ cache contained contracts, non-disclosure agreements, phone numbers, email addresses and private correspondence.
On Thursday, the group doubled down on the bailout and threatened to leak damaging information about Trump, Page Six reported.

“The next person we’re posting is Donald Trump. There’s an election going on and we’ve found a lot of dirty laundry,” the hackers said, according to Page Six.
They added: “Mr. Trump, if he wants to remain president, stick a sharp stick in the boys, otherwise you can forget this ambition forever. And to your voters, we can let you know that after a post like this I will not I. I don’t want to see him as president… The deadline is one week.
“Grubman, we will raze your company to the ground if we don’t see the money,” the hackers wrote.

Sources told Page Six that Trump had never been a client of the firm. Another source told the news outlet that Grubman refused to negotiate with the hackers.
“His view is that if he paid, the hackers could still release the documents,” the source said. “Additionally, the FBI has stated that this hack is considered an act of international terrorism and we are not doing business with terrorists.”
Grubman doesn’t appear to be a supporter of the president either. According to Federal Election Commission filings, he contributed to the 2019 and 2020 presidential campaigns of Democratic Sen. Cory Booker and Kamala Harris.

The law firm said in a statement to Page Six that “our elections, our government and our personal information are increasingly under attack by foreign cybercriminals,” adding that “law firms are not immune to this malicious activity.”
He added: “Experts and the FBI have told us that negotiating or paying a ransom to terrorists is a violation of federal criminal law. Even when large ransoms have been paid, criminals often leak documents anyway “.
The same group in January targeted British currency exchange company Travelex, which paid about $2.3 million in bitcoins to recover its stolen files, The Wall Street Journal reported.

In the world of entertainment, there’s one sure sign you’ve made it: Allen Grubman is your lawyer. As a partner at Grubman Indursky & Shire, he represents the top of the A-list. He is also the father of Lizzie Grubman
Born to working-class parents in Crown Heights, Grubman went through CUNY and spent time teaching at a local elementary school before marrying and enrolling at Brooklyn Law. After finishing last in his law class (or so he says), Grubman teamed up with Paul Schindler to start his own firm in 1974 and was soon joined by a third partner, Grubman’s cousin Arthur Indursky . (Legend has it that Grubman’s office initially consisted of a folding table and a telephone.) For nearly three decades, the firm operated as Grubman Indursky & Schindler. After Paul Schindler left for Greenberg, Traurig, Larry Shire became a name partner in 2005. Over the years, Grubman has represented some of the biggest names in town, including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez
Although Grubman started in the music business, the company has expanded its practice to include celebrities and public figures of all styles. That said, Grubman’s extensive influence in the music industry is particularly noteworthy: not only has he represented dozens of A-list artists and every major label in town, but he’s represented both at the same time. His unconventional practice of simulcasting has long been controversial, and his outsized influence in the music business has long irked his colleagues. However, countless artists and labels don’t care – they continue to pay some of the highest fees in the industry to get him on their side.

Grubman was not in a good mood after his daughter Lizzie’s meltdown in July 2001 outside a nightclub in the Hamptons. Dad was the first person Lizzie called after the accident; the first call he made was to attorney Eddie Hayes
. Lizzie spent a brief stint in prison after the incident, but both father and daughter spent several years settling lawsuits filed by people she injured. Grubman has faced high-profile personal lawsuits before. In 1992, Billy Joel
Sued him for fraud, breach of contract and conflict of interest. Joel later withdrew the lawsuit, leading Grubman to brag that no money was ever exchanged in the settlement.
