It seems like it should be a lot easier to remove stickers from plastic than it is. You can simply try to peel off the sticker, but it may remain partially intact or leave residue. This is because many leading manufacturers use high strength adhesives to adhere labels to plastic. Whether you can’t remove a sticker or want to get rid of the residue, there are several ways, from peanut butter to rubbing alcohol, that can work for you.

To remove a stubborn sticker from plastic, use baby oil or vegetable oil. First apply the oil to the sticker with a clean cloth, so that it is completely saturated. Let the oil work for at least 5 minutes. Wipe the decal with a clean cloth and wash off any remaining residue with soapy water. You can also use a hair dryer to get a sticker out of plastic. Point the hair dryer at the decal for a few minutes, moving it constantly so that the plastic doesn’t melt. The heat should loosen the adhesive so you can remove a corner of the sticker. Always make sure to test a small area of your container before using any of the removal options below. Some jars, cans, or plastic containers can be damaged by scrubbing, scraping, heat, or chemicals.
To learn how to remove a label from plastic, some of the steps below should be tested before use. Chemicals such as acetone and nail polish remover can sometimes remove the color from plastic products, so be sure to test an area before soaking or applying. Heat can melt plastic and sharp tools can scratch. If you want to see how to remove labels from plastic containers, we recommend trying steps 3-5.
Soak a cloth, paper towel, or cotton ball in rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, lighter fluid, or yes, even cheap vodka. Let it sit on the front of the labels for at least 15 minutes so that you can remove labels easily. Once you see that the alcohol has soaked into the label, you can begin to peel and unwrap it. Use a sponge dipped in alcohol to remove any adhesive on the container.
How To Remove Sticker Residue From Every Surface
Rubbing alcohol isn’t as strong as nail polish remover, so try nail polish remover or acetone to remove stubborn sticker glue.
Set your blow dryer to high heat and run it back and forth over the label side for 30 seconds to melt the label adhesive. If the label does not come off, continue heating at 30 second intervals until you can remove the label. Use a wet, soapy sponge to remove any remaining glue. This method does not always work with extra strong label adhesive.
This is a good method for removing labels from glass bottles with paper labels. It is not recommended for plastic containers as they may melt from the heat of the hair dryer.

Simply apply the product with a cloth or paper towel and let it work for about 15 minutes. Then pull the label from the corner or use a scraper to remove the rest. Be sure to clean your container with soap and water before reusing it for your product.
Use a shallow container large enough for your pots. Fill your container with enough white vinegar to cover the entire front of the label and let them soak for 15 minutes or more. Heating the vinegar in the microwave or on the stove can help with tricky labels. Carefully remove the jar and remove the label. If they’ve soaked long enough, the label should come off easily. Otherwise, let them soak a little longer. Paper labels often tear into pieces when you try to remove them, so dip a sponge in the vinegar and rub the label to remove any bits. This is an ideal method for most glass and metal containers.
Basic water is still a good way to remove stickers and labels. Simply submerge your gear in a bathtub or sink full of warm water, the hotter the better. Be careful not to burn yourself. For extra durable labels, mix in a little dish soap or laundry detergent. Soak your container for at least an hour or overnight for extra stubborn label adhesive. Once the tags are sufficiently soaked, you should be able to remove the tag easily. Use a wet sponge to remove any adhesive residue.
This method is the easiest way to remove labels from glass bottles, for example. Just let them soak and do other things while you wait.
Quick Ways To Remove Adhesive From A Car
While this isn’t an ideal way to remove tags if you’re dealing with a lot of containers, it does work. Holding an X-Acto® knife or single-edged razor blade at an angle, gently lift it under the edge of the label and press until part is removed. Once you have the corner up, you can pull the label away. Sometimes your tag comes off in parts. Repeat the process until everything is removed. It is not recommended to use razor blades on surfaces that will scratch such as cans and plastic. Test a small area before using this method.
