As it characterizes: “Two years ago, I started a series called The Secret Lives of Heroes, imagining my favorite heroes performing less extraordinary activities in their mundane home lives.
Later, in the series “Pop Idols”, I expanded my work to other parody themes, mixing symbols, brands, stars and characters, placing them in interesting situations while maintaining the same identity as the hero. “Heroes” series, featuring Wonder Woman in a pop art style. Grégoire Guillemin, known as “Léon”, started in a French communications agency before deciding to use digital and new media to recreate the heroes of his childhood. Born in 1968, his work is strongly inspired by pop culture.

From the retro style of the 30s to modern pop art, Léon embodies essential characters from the imaginary worlds of comics, video games and science fiction. He first creates the visuals on a computer then applies acrylic paint to canvas.
Léon does not consider himself as an artist but as an “eclectic graphic designer” because graphics and characters define his work. He is today considered one of the protagonists of the “geek art” movement in new technologies and media. This ever-evolving movement extends to computing, gaming and science fiction.
His work uses minimalist artistic techniques to place comic book heroes in everyday situations. His “Heroes” series is gaining notoriety, making him an extremely popular figure in the geek art world.
