Then, in 1987, Arnaud was invited to invest in LVMH by the company’s president, Henri Racamier. Invested through a joint venture with Guinness PLC, Arnault ousted Racamier in 1990 and began acquiring a series of fashion companies into LVMH: Christian Lacroix, Givenchy and Kenzo; leather goods companies Loewe, Céline and Berluti; jeweler Fred Joyler; DFS group (the world’s largest chain of duty-free stores); and beauty retailer Sephora.

Arnaud then hired Marc Jacobs, a young American designer, as creative director at Louis Vuitton, a luxury leather goods manufacturer; That same year, LVMH also acquired a majority stake in Jacobs’ eponymous product line. The Real Reason No One Recognized Bernard In Westworld
The seventh episode of “Westworld” confirmed a long-standing fan theory about brutal fashion – we not only learn that Bernard is the host, but also kill Teresa Cullen in the same heartbreaking scene.
As the episode ended, fans couldn’t help but ponder what this meant for all of the past scenes starring Bernard. What about his private conversations with Dolores? Why did Ford do it in the first place? Why give Bernard a pre-programmed plot about a dead child and an estranged wife?
This is where the second part of the “Bernard is the host” theory comes in. Many believe that Bernard is the family version of Arnold.
Bernard Wright, Bestselling Funk And Jazz Artist, Dies At 58
For several weeks now, fans have been speculating online about an apparent connection between Bernard and Arnold. Our colleague at Business, Chris Snyder, did a video summarizing some of the key evidence in theory to date.
Arnold was Ford’s original business partner in Westworld. According to Ford, his life was marked by tragedy and he became attached to the hosts. Arnold is consumed by the desire to make the hosts truly sentient and mysteriously dies from this obsession.
Many characters repeatedly refer to a labyrinth believed to have been created by Arnold. The man in black told Armistice and Ford that the maze is the deepest level of the Westworld game and was created by Arnold. While we’re not exactly sure what the maze is (or where it is located), we now firmly believe that Arnold was the one who created it.
Westworld Season 3: Why Is Bernard A Fugitive?
According to many characters, Arnold died about 35 years before the present time on the show. Maybe he committed suicide somehow in the park.
We know that before his death, Arnold built and programmed some of the servers that are still in use in the Westworld park. Dolores Abernathy is the main person we know so far. She heard Arnold’s voice in her head as he guided her to the maze.
We don’t know how long ago Ford made Bernard, we don’t know why either. But we can make some speculations based on the dialogue and scenes from the first seven episodes.
Bittersweet: David Bernard’s Final Day On Air
Bernard shares a lot of personality traits with Arnold (at least the ones Ford told us about). He seems to empathize with hosts more than humans and is Ford’s right-hand man when it comes to coding and creating hosts.
Ford tells Bernard a story involving a son named Charlie who died in the hospital as a child. What if Arnold actually had a young son die – prompting Ford to describe Arnold’s life as “marked by tragedy”.
This would explain the super specific choices Ford made when designing the Bernard. He told Bernard all about Arnold’s personality and real life story.
Who Is Bernard Arnault And What Companies Does Lvmh Own?
Then there’s the picture. Back in episode three, the audience first got to know Arnold through Bernard’s conversation with Ford in his office.
We first saw the photo from Bernard’s perspective and assumed we were looking at a younger Ford (left) and Arnold (right).
But in episode six, Bernard discovers the unregistered cabin is filled with hosts designed to resemble the Ford family. And we learn that the man in the photo is actually Ford’s father.

We know that presenters can be programmed not to see something literally right in front of them, especially if it makes them question their actual nature. That means the image of “Arnold” may have been shown to the audience as a misdirection. What if Bernard is actually looking at his painting, but his vision automatically blocks it?
There’s also a piece of unfounded theory that comes from the names Bernard and Arnold: Redditor gbtolax discovered that “Bernard Lowe” is an anagram of “Arnold Weber”.
Clean isn’t it? Except we don’t know Arnold’s full name, so “Webber” is just a shot in the dark based on the rest of Bernard Lowe’s letters. But we should all be wary of mentioning “Weber”.

The strongest blow to this theory came from all the one-on-one conversations Bernard had with Dolores.
Vanity Fair’s Joanna Robinson came up with the idea after episode five aired. Many fans believe that there are two timelines shown – The Man in Black and Ford in the “present”, with William and Dolores in the “past”.
For now, we won’t dive into what it means for Dolores and William to exist in a different time frame than the Man in Black, but instead, we’ll focus on potential child scenes people with Arnold.
Net Worth Of Bernard Arnault (updated 2022)
If these private conversations are indeed Arnold’s conversations with Dolores shortly after he first met her 35 years ago, that would explain why “Bernard” seems to know about the maze.
“There’s something I want you to try,” he told Dolores. “It’s a game… a secret. It’s called a maze. It’s a very special kind of game, Dolores. The goal is to find the center of it. If you can do that, then perhaps you will be free.”
What if Arnold actually told Dolores about the maze for the first time? It also explains why the voice in Dolores’ head sometimes sounds like Bernard’s. She recalled previous conversations with the man Arnold.
Westworld’: Jeffrey Wright On Bernard Twist
If Bernard is really a showrunner intent on behaving and acting like Arnold, we have more questions than ever. One thing “Westworld” has always delivered is the subversion of assumptions and reality. Even if we think we know where the story is going, there’s a good chance hosts Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will surprise us.
Then there’s the simple fact that everything we think we know can be turned upside down at any moment. Can we believe everything Ford says, including details about Arnold? Can we believe anything Bernard did or said in the previous episodes, now that we know his point of view is unreliable?
