Book Vice: A Clever Twist To Traditional Bookends
The system is a sequence of slopes and steps made of basaltic slabs. Centuries later, Luis Barragán considered stairs as subtle sculptural elements that emerge from the landscape, as we can appreciate in his work “El Pedrigal”.
The studio was born in 2013 as Álvareztostado, experimenting with materials and artistic Mexican art techniques. In 2016 the studio changed its name to Pedrafogo, in honor of the transformation of materials – the meeting of human hands and earthly resources – the interaction between materials and those who make our goods. The studio also develops architectural projects, artistic production and interior design.
The new solid is the art of feeling and living. This is the first exhibition from Casa Nueva, a habitable gallery space and apartment hotel launched by designers Rivera Valdez and Sebastián Arroyo Hobbins, built on the idea that art can inhabit. We invite visitors to participate in a dialogue between transversal works from the contemporary art and design scene. It deals with functional art designed and conceived by artists from two iconic cities, Mexico City and New York, in the relationship created in geometry, technology and art. The artwork, a pleasure for the contemplative eye and a pleasure to use, will invite the viewer to explore the multifaceted and multifaceted nature of concepts such as mass, volume or weight. The space, equipped as an active living space, can be found in the historic center of Mexico City. The event will be part of the celebration of Design Week Mexico, an international design and logistics platform, and in partnership with Angolo Cerro, an art gallery with amazing designs based in Mexico City, and Yunuen Sarriego, promoter In collaboration with and a contemporary art curator based in Mexico City. Decorative Bookends Archives
All of our metalwork is coated with a custom and natural finish to highlight the unique surface of the steel created through the forging process. Caring for a griddle is similar to caring for a cast iron skillet. If the piece gets wet, it’s a good idea to dry it as soon as possible. If the piece has surface rust, you can remove it using a wire brush or steel wool scrubbing pad and then cover it with a clear coat of oil to reseal it.
Many interchangeable terms are used for metalworking. While there are technical definitions for each of the above, the use of each is an acceptable name for metalwork produced by blacksmiths from our shop.
This is my second collection of these very beautiful books. This set sits perfectly in my living room window, facing each other like in the example above. When I walk up the driveway to my duplex, they look like old school doors – which is fun and makes me smile. As with all my orders from WF so far, it has arrived very quickly.
