Candles are something I love to have at home at any time of the year because of their scent, atmosphere, and air freshening properties. My love for them is so deep that I even learned how to make them! And over the years I have made many candles. I find the process enjoyable and fun, so here are five of my most popular DIY candle making projects. Coincidentally, there are projects for every season!

Eco Friendly Alternatives To Scented Candles
1. Boil 2 inches of water in a saucepan. Place the soy wax flakes in a slightly smaller saucepan or a glass bowl over simmering water in a larger saucepan and create a steamer. Stir the flakes every few minutes until completely melted. Once melted, remove the wax from the heat, dip the metal wick clamp into the wax, and press a wooden rod into the center of the bottom of the glass candle container. Once the wick is secured, wrap the top of the wick around the dowel and place the dowel over the opening of the container.
2. At this point, the wax should have cooled for a few minutes and be ready to receive the essential oils. If you add essential oil too soon, it will burn.
Add about 100 drops of essential oils in total (making them super powerful and delicious!) and stir in the wax. Here is a breakdown of the three oils:

2. Place the protective sheet over the label and use a plastic credit card (such as a credit card) to polish the label and press it against the adhesive. Cut out the label with a craft knife and a metal ruler and discard the top sheet.

3. Peel off the label backing to expose the adhesive on the back of the label. A snug fit (no wrinkling) of the label against the curve of the glass jar will allow the label to attach securely, so affix it horizontally to the candle and press firmly.

How To Make Beeswax And Coconut Oil Candles, A Simple Recipe!
Well, what do you know? A bag of raw beeswax harvested from harvested honey was taken, refined and melted down to make beeswax tea candles. Earlier this year, I brought back a beautiful blue lantern from Italy and thought tealights would be the perfect way to light it.
Did you know that beeswax candles not only burn cleanly and are non-toxic, they also purify the air by producing negative ions, which clear the air of odors and allergens. How cool is that? The beeswax also has a clean and pleasant smell, so I decided not to add any fragrances. I didn’t think it was necessary, but it seems essential oils can be added if desired once the wax is completely melted.

4. Create a steamer. Heat 2 inches of water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Place the purified beeswax in a candle pot and place the pot in a large saucepan. Using a candy thermometer, heat the wax to 150-160 degrees Fahrenheit. Stir from time to time and do not let stand.

5. When the temperature reaches 150°F, remove the candy thermometer, remove the spout from the steamer and pour the wax into the prepared mold. Pour slowly to avoid air bubbles.
6. Let the wax cool. After it has completely cooled (about 10 minutes), pull the candle wick gently and firmly, rocking it back and forth to remove it from the mold. Cut the core in half and enjoy!
