Get your favorite bowl and fill it with ornaments, greenery, pinecones, or other seasonal fillers. Dough bowls, baskets, ceramic jars – anything will do! Love the bright colors in this vintage Christmas kitchen basket.
If you have a lot of things that you want to use as wallpaper, put them in a drawer to tie everything together. You can use a metal tray, wooden cutting board, portable tray, or other flat surface. This also makes it very easy to move the center piece around if needed without disturbing the vignette.
Fairy lights add a beautiful warm glow to any interior decor. Look for lights that have an auto on/off timer so you don’t have to worry about turning them on and off and finding a place to add a battery back in. I used fake snow on the bottom of a hurricane glass candle holder to cover the battery pack and then added a glass tree and some silver ornaments to help reflect the light. You can see everything lit up in our Christmas dining room here.
Absolutely Gorgeous Centerpiece Ideas For Your Christmas Table
Lay the wreath flat to create a base for any centerpiece. You can place it on the floor of the table, use it to fill a round bowl, or place it on a tray. Place a candle holder, small Christmas tree, or other item in the center to add some height.
There is nothing better at Christmas than fresh grass. Not only does it add that fresh green scent, but it also brings life and texture to your home space. Try a variety of new green clips for more depth and interest. Other natural elements such as branches and pine trees also work well. You can find the instructions for this easy DIY poinsettia wreath here.
If you have a background of faux greenery, you can even add some sprigs of fresh greenery to it to make it look more realistic like I did with the ones below.

Candles always add a beautiful light and soft warmth to your holiday table. Tea lights, taper candles, votives – love them all! You generally want to stick to unscented candles on the table so they don’t compete with all the aromas of delicious food. Use candles of different heights to add interest and flow. You also want to make sure the candles are moving so they don’t fall out. If it’s a crowded table or you’ve got kids to join you, battery-operated flameless candles might be a better option. I also love these lights wrapped in a string. The more light the better!
Any type of decorative piece can be used as a centerpiece, so don’t limit yourself to dishes and baskets. I used this old white pickaxe in our dining room last Christmas and filled it with some bushy shrubs I picked up at the dollar box at Target. For Christmas, you can use small sleighs, Christmas trees, and any other decorative pieces you want.
I used this wooden candle mold in our kitchen a few years ago and filled it with faux pine branches, mini pine cones, and twinkling lights. I loved that all the natural elements were combined together and it was a very simple, rustic look.

For this table, I wanted to continue the plaid tartan theme from the Christmas decorations in my family room, so I added 12 strips of ribbon to the pine branches the entire length of the centerpiece. This is the same method I use to put ribbon on Christmas trees. You can see those details by clicking here.
After the bar was in place, I added bronzed greenery, a sprinkle of frosted pine cones, and glitter embellishments on the pine runner.
