Christmas Village Stocking Holder – This year I decided to update our Christmas stocking and make a new set. I settled on a DIY Christmas tree stock holder.
It reminds me of last year’s Advent home that I made out of cardboard but this year we took it up a notch. It is screwed to the board so that it does not move.

It turned out so cute that I freaked out and made two sets!!! The first is with natural wood tones – a simple Scandinavian Christmas style. The other is hand painted with traditional Christmas colors and lots of details.

I dug through my scrap wood pile and found some 3/4 inch plywood lying around. So I cut the pieces to size using my table. Size doesn’t matter here – you’ll have to adapt this project to fit your roof. Our dresser is about 5 inches deep and 55 inches long, so I made my plastic box about 30 inches long.

Using my cordless brad nails with 1 1/4 inch brad nails and wood glue, I made a simple box. I cut the front of the box short so that the light would shine through the small window of the house. Overlooked. I have it.
To cut out the shape of the Christmas village, I used my 3D X-carve, but you can also use a jigsaw. I cut it out of 1/4 inch plywood and glue and nail it to the face of the box. Easy peasy.

After a quick and careful sanding, I sprayed two coats of clear coat. To be clear, sand by hand with 400-grit sandpaper between coats.
I wanted the hooks to be removable, in case I decide to use this Christmas village somewhere else in the future, I chose these clear reusable hooks. I also collected a large hook to hang the wreath.
Also, why am I the last person on earth to know about these battery powered flashlights?! They are game changers! I no longer need to worry that the people who built this house have no expected to remove through the mantel. Win!
