When most people think of Costco, they think of cheap gas, fluorescent stores, and bulk hygiene products. I was exactly the same until last spring.
I learned that my Costco membership came with extra perks like free shipping on online orders, access to the pharmacy, and discount glasses. But I never thought of Costco as a place to book travel. Plus, I had never booked an all-inclusive trip before. My trips usually involve more exploration than relaxation.
But when I got serious about leisure, I visited the Costco Travel website. The site is easy to use and offers a dedicated search for vacation packages, cruises, hotels and car rentals.

I quickly narrowed down my search and decided on Mexico as my destination because of its great weather and proximity to my home in California. In less than an hour I found an amazing vacation package and decided to go for it.
One of the reasons I booked the trip the same day I started looking is because Costco Travel offers 100% refunds a month before departure and you pay less than half the total cost when you book.
A cancellation policy is great because it allows for any unexpected things that might require you to cancel or change your travel plans. Since you have more time to save the second half of the ticket price, paying half in advance gives you the opportunity to save on paying for the trip.
What You Need To Know About Using Costco To Book Your Next Vacation
Because I had booked an all-inclusive resort, the payment for the holiday was different from other trips I had booked. For most trips, you spend money at various points in the planning process and then during the trip as well. With an all-inclusive vacation, the full cost of the trip is paid before departure.
So, $1,422.79 sounds like a lot, but when you consider that it’s the total amount for a week’s vacation — including flights, transportation, activities, food and drinks — it doesn’t seem so high.
Costco’s cancellation refund policy, including a 90% refund up to five days before travel, made booking fast.
