Do you use “negative space” in your work and if so, how important is it in communicating your design? (in the form of advertising – digital, product design, etc.)

Of course I used it. I usually let the design happen organically and by that I mean the negative space usually lets me know what I need to do. It’s a process I use all the time when graphic design is to be used on skateboards, a deck of skateboards gives you amazing blank space to work with.
I would say that it is very important aesthetically, especially with the general layout of the designs that you create. It always looks good to me when something is spaced the way I see it to be correct, but what I think is good space will differ from other people’s interpretations, which is the great thing about design.

You look for inspiration in the many things you encounter in the world, and find solace in the beautiful mix of colors and lines to create the most stunning images possible. Believe in the way these creations inspire, and use them to bring more color to the way you live your life.
However, this doesn’t even begin to explain how much art there is out there in the world, because sometimes, real art can’t be found in frames on walls and in quiet rooms.

Sometimes, real art is found in the streets, where the pace is fast and the noise is deafening. Sometimes real art can be found under those skateboards your young neighbor owns.
Yes, skateboard decks have become a popular medium for more extreme artists to display their work. To the surprise of many, these decks don’t necessarily feature the art of angsty teenagers all the time. The art found on skateboard decks has really evolved over time, and the designs have become more mature and meaningful.
There are many colors, but not always. Some decks use elaborate design elements that could really fit in a sophisticated art gallery. Some remain within the limits of pop culture trends, but with a more refined approach to use.

Some may still carry content that others may find offensive, but hey, art is actually an honest expression of one’s beliefs, right? So that’s exactly what this medium does for this rare breed of artist.
While looking at these designs, you will also see a very careful attention to detail, and many of the images created open your imagination to how much sweat was poured into bringing the concepts to life. However, some also prefer a minimalist approach, with clean lines and neutral colors that aim to calm.
No matter how different each design might be from the others, the high degree of seriousness that each skateboard artist applies to their work is evident every step of the way.
