Diy Valentines Day Wreaths – I like to decorate for Christmas, and again spring will come. But there are always those months during which I’m not excited. You know, the snowy, cold, very cold months (at least here in New England!) and then there’s the matter of my front door. I feel like an evergreen arrangement can be left on the door in January but then it gets to the point where it looks like you forgot to put Christmas down. I wasn’t ready to cut out the wreath yet, so when I turned to Pinterest to find inspiration for this Burlap Valentine Heart Wreath.
I can find all the equipment at Hobby Lobby … except for the wreath pattern. They only had the 12 inch foam heart wreath and I felt like it would be lost on my big black front door. So I ended up making my own and will post a tutorial for it here soon!

Red burlap: this roll or 2 yards of red burlap: $6.38 ($3.99/yard but used my 40% off hobby coupon here)
Best Diy Valentine’s Day Wreaths
Start by cutting out about 3 strips measuring about 4″ x 60″ each strip. This is a great use for the ragged edges of the burlap as we just used this to wrap the wreath pattern. yours.
Using hot glue or pins, begin wrapping your wreath pattern with strips of red burlap. It doesn’t have to be perfect, we just try to avoid black or white (depending on the color of your shape) as much as possible through our burlap bubbles.
To make your bubbles start by folding the square into a triangle. Then drill each point to meet the other points. Here… it’s easier to show you:

Next, take one of your T-pins and pin it through the points, making sure to poke each point with the point of your pin. I also find it helps to hot glue the back at this point. Not only does the hot glue help the points stick together (in case you miss a stitch) but it also helps to attach it to the wreath pattern.
Now it’s time to start attaching them to your wreath form. I tried to get my bubble burlap nice and neat but I still see them stuck here and there. Not right or wrong … this is your program! While the hot glue is still warm, I attach them like this:
Pin one in the middle, pin one on the right, pin one on the left, repeat! Oh and these pictures are from my first attempt before I decided to wrap the shape with burlap strips. Oops!
Inexpensive Diy Valentine Wreaths For Your Front Door And More
Then I got this amazing leopard ribbon (leopard goes with everything, by the way!) and just looped it into the heart loops and hot glued it to the back. When it was on my door, I thought it needed a bow so I made a quick bow and hot glued it to the top of the ribbon I used to hang it.
I just attached the ribbon on top of the heart ring and used hot glue to attach the ribbon to itself.
And that’s all! I am very excited about the results. And to think it only cost a little more than $17.00. Not good! I am finishing the tutorial for the heart shape and link back here. Just when we put on Christmas decorations and we feel that the house is looking a little blah, Valentine’s Day comes and gives us an excuse to add fun decorations again!
