The selection varies and tends to sell out as spring turns into summer, but check ahead and you’ll get some deals.

View quantities by weight or number of seeds to compare prices with other sellers. They may have less quantity, but they still have everything you need – at a better price.

Check out the packages and you’ll see that many of them come from well-known brands – at a fraction of the price. I have no idea how they end up on dollar store kiosks, but they do.

The image includes a variety of vegetables and flowers, including annuals and perennials. The packets pictured above don’t come pre-sown with a date to check freshness, but I’ve never had a bad batch. And you can always do the paper towel test first if you’re not sure.

The downside to dollar store seeds is choice. We love independent seed sellers for all the weird, rare and wonderful offerings and for that reason I will always order from them. But for common items, these seeds are beneficial.

A Dollar General Garden Flag Farmhouse Style Makeover

They are very useful for hanging flower baskets. Hang it high for display and pull down for easy watering.

Often sold as wedding favors, these tulle or organza bags are perfect for collecting seeds. Place them on top of your best flowers as the flower turns to seed. The bag allows air flow, but at the same time catches the seeds that fall from the pods.

When we bake, we call them Bundt pans, but they’re actually perfect for fitting around a patio table umbrella.

Dollar Store Planter Stakes Makeover

The shallow pot is suitable for succulents and many annuals. Be careful not to overwater as there are no drainage holes.

And they are suitable for more than plants. Use a container to hold floating candles, fairy lights, seashells or any other themed decor.

I like long bamboo skewers to mark new plants in pots waiting to be transplanted into the garden.

New Home Decor Items From The Dollar General!

I created this flower pot using Amazon shoe organizers. And it worked so well because the organizer is strong enough to withstand water and weather.

For this reason, I wouldn’t try it with cheap plastic shoe organizers that dry out or crack in the sun. But I saw another type at the dollar store that would work.

Look for dollar store shoe organizers made of polypropylene. It’s the same material that makes landscape fabrics and some reusable bags. And for only a dollar or two, it’s a pretty good deal for a hanging wall vase.

Dollar Store Craft

I use landscape fabric to make my grow bags. I don’t recommend it for weed control, but it works great.

Years ago I came up with a trick to clean pond water without any chemical treatment. Essentially all water is filtered through the polyester blanket batting. You can read about the clean pond method here.

If you have a skimmer basket buried in your garden pond, you can filter the water on its way to the recirculation pump.

Place a piece of polyester batting between the two cooling racks and secure with a retaining clip.

Placed at the skimmer inlet, it works like a charm to remove algae and other grease from the water. Replace the batting as needed.
