Dollar Store Christmas Decorations Diy
I usually put up our tree the second week of November, and this year I’m really excited to have a few Christmas trees I’m planning to make. My little one even wants his own Christmas tree in his new room. Today I’m sharing a small DIY decoration idea that I think would be perfect for a beautiful family room Christmas tree; Small DIY Christmas decorations made from the dollar store.

Although you can buy pretty decorations these days, I’ve always found that making my own is part of preparing for the holiday fun. I’ve made a few different ones over the years that I love and it’s a joy every Christmas when I open my bags and find special ones.
I used the following materials, along with some string and some masking tape that I had on hand.

The little faux pails were picked up at my local Dollar Tree; Be sure to check yours to see if they carry it this holiday season! I picked up the cute glass trees and gold bells at the Dollar Tree. The Christmas village picturesare from Dollarama and I have leftover snow from last year – I bought them at Walmart. I also had a small bag of fake snow with some glitter, which was from the Dollar Tree.
I started to build a cardboard base for the poles and trees to sit on so they would be more visible inside the testicles.
To build it, I cut small circles out of some white cardboard I had on hand (it was actually from a Delicio pizza box I pulled from the recycling bin).

I attached it with hot glue, allowing the glue to create space between the layers.
You want to make sure there is enough space between the carton and the lid so it still fits the testicle part properly, like below…
I then placed all my characters until I found groups that I thought were cute and placed them on the cards.

Very beautiful! The snow settles a little on the edges of the rubber band, but most of it falls naturally to the base.
To give the Christmas decoration a more complete look, I added burlap style ribbon around the base. Then I attached a small gold bell string to it like the thin string they came with.
