. When I was about to go to the beach with the family for a two-week long vacation, I naturally put on the new Garmin Instinct 2S solar.
This latest solar powered version of Garmin’s popular Backcountry Instinct series is smaller and has more powerful performance than previous versions. More importantly, you don’t need to charge for 21 days. It was three weeks of multiple GPS-tracked activity days, including running, swimming, hiking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and boogie boarding. If you value an accurate country track and don’t need to charge batteries, this is the best case watch on the market.

For many years, the Apple Watch has consistently dominated the smartwatch and fitness market. But there is one area where it can’t compete: battery life. If you’re busy enough to get smart, you’re busy enough to harass the hell out of it every day (sometimes more than once).
The Instinct 2S solar power uses a glass face to convert the sun’s energy (table into light) into battery power. If you are the type of person who wants to check your sunlight intensity and how much sunlight you are exposed to each day, you can look down on the face to get this information for the previous six hours and other useful information. -notifications and steps.
It’s fun to watch your sun’s intensity rise and fall as you bike, run or sit in the shade. But all I needed to know was that with lots of direct sunlight, the Instinct 2S Solar got some power. The most surprising thing is that the Solar Instinct 2S is much smaller than previous Garmin Instinct watches I’ve tried. I tested the native version, which worked fine for all the games I tried while playing it. I’ve used the rings to organize snorkeling (it’s my nightmare that I’ll surf to find myself lost, like two in open water). Accurately tracks the time and length of lap pool swims and calculates the MUD score. (I was born slow, but I am certainly efficient!)

The running cards told me when and where I slowed down on the big summer hills, the 2S Instinct also accurately noted when and where to pull tracks for a better view. Apple’s latest development of software for its smart watches are very interesting to me as a runner, and the Series 7 is Apple’s hardest watch to date. But until Apple improves battery life, Garmin still makes the best display for rugged sports, and the Instinct series offers the best value for money. It is still difficult to read.
