The books have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been screened in Sweden, alongside films and extended TV versions. David Fincher directed the English language version of the first book, a better adaptation in my opinion, but for many the original Swedish version gives clear versions of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. It was released both as a trilogy of feature films and in an extended version as a Swedish TV mini-series.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson (alfred A. Knopf, 2008 [translated By Reg Keeland]{audible Audio Edition, Narrator: Simon Vance})
Niels Arden Oplev brings a similar style of work to his adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), but the film still works thanks to a strong story and vivid portrayal of Lisbeth Salander, an angry criminal whose life has become difficult for Noomi Rapace. a violent teenager. a woman. It must be difficult for him to survive in this violent world, even before he becomes embroiled in a decades-old murder mystery that awakens old secrets. Michael Nyqvist gets top billing as the story’s protagonist, investigative reporter Mikael Blomkvist, who is released from prison after serving time for libel (he was framed, natch) and agrees to a cold case, but Salander, who uses him to con him. volunteer research skills for clients who don’t care how they get their information, Mikaela is interested. It’s the first act of self-sacrifice we’ve seen from him…even if it’s revenge. And revenge is something he knows and angers.
The Girl Who Plays with Fire (2009) is an improvement on the first film, moving away from the murder mystery conventions of the first film to focus on Salander’s sinister past returning with a vengeance. Revenge Edition: This hits a dark spot like the first film, but more personal. Director Daniel Alfredson is not a performance director and fails to create anything resembling tension, but rather suits the characters and puts the relationship between Lisbeth and Mikael at the center of the fun, to impress even more because they won’t be sharing the screen. That relationship is stronger and more convincing this time, not a narrative reference, but a personal connection despite Lisbeth’s tendency to hold everything up. But the film belongs to Lisbeth, energetic, intelligent, fierce, angry and focused, supported by Mikael.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (2009) ends this story more gracefully than happily. Director Alfredson continues the plot of the difficult productions as it was only a sharp list of Rapacea’s nature Lisbeth and the trusted Nyqvist, while faithful Mikael gives any personality to the justice-loving picture. By the end of the film, it becomes a big, static courtroom drama where the tables are turned in such a colorless way that poetic justice seems to have been served. However, the story is very clear and Lisbeth is such a wonderful creation that they pull the films back and give a satisfying closure.
