Valentine’s Day is a great holiday for making DIY projects! Your Valentine’s Day gifts and Valentine’s Day cards are a great way to show someone how much you care. And using your Martha Stewart Craft Explore Air 2, you can create a fun yet easy project with a variety of materials and designs to choose from. I’m really excited to show you one of my favorite types of projects to make with my Martha Stewart Cricket – using iron on paper! That’s right, ironing isn’t just for shirts! By using iron-on vinyl on paper, I was able to create an intricate design for my handmade Valentine’s Day card without all the hassle of sticking to small pieces of paper.

I can’t tell you how much I love having a Martha Stewart cricket machine in my art room! It can cut over 100 different materials, from cardstock, vinyl and iron to specialty materials like glitter paper, cork and bonded fabric. Diy Valentine’s Day Cards For Kids With Free Printable! Candy Free
If you click “Customize,” you can add card size, image color, or text. I made the design 5×7 inches when the card was finished. Instead of a design, I made the cardstock liner gray, so that it contrasts with the white design on the front of the card, which will be cut from iron-on vinyl.
If you’re familiar with working with iron-on materials, you’ll know that your design must “mirror” your shirt in order for it to line up properly. Since the white heart and “Be Mine” design needed to be cut out of Iron On, I selected this layer and clicked on the “Mirror” slider. Also remember to place the iron down on the back of the mat.
As you cut your material, be sure to select the appropriate material for each piece of card on the top dial of the card machine. For paper, use “cardstock” if you’re using Cricut brand cardstock (depending on the brand you can choose a light or heavy version) and for iron, turn the dial to “iron-on”. » I love how easy the Cricut Explore Air 2 makes choosing your materials.
Valentine’s Day Diy Homemade Card Ideas
Once you’ve cut out your materials, get ready to assemble your DIY Valentine’s Day card. Adhere the white card liner to the inside of the card using your favorite adhesive (I used Xyron Creative Station and Permanent Adhesive).
Next, remove the excess vinyl from your design. One of my favorite features of the CricutEveryday Iron-on™ is that it takes damage easily. With this small and intricate heart design, I was able to remove the excess in a few minutes.
Now the fun part begins – using iron on paper! Preheat your Cricket Easy Press 2 Martha Stewart Edition to 250 degrees. The EasyPress 2 is the newest addition to my craft room. In addition to the stylish vanilla and gold colors that match my Martha Stewart Cricket, it’s easy to use, lightweight and produces professional results in 60 seconds or less. It has an advanced heating plate design with a ceramic coated surface that can be precisely controlled up to 400 degrees.
Studio Diy: Valentine’s Day Cards
Once the machine is at the appropriate temperature, set the timer for 15 seconds. Using the EasyPress mat below, press the “Be Mine” design onto the front piece of pink cardstock for 15 seconds, and then fold the piece over and press back for 15 seconds. Match the heart design to the card and follow the same process – back and forth 15 seconds.
Wait for the iron to cool before removing the plastic carrier sheet. I found that it was easier to remove the carrier sheet from the paper after the vinyl cooled.
Once you remove the plastic, you’re done! Fill out the card and send it to someone you love!
