His son William, a minister of the Dutch Reformed Church, also worked in a non-government nursing home. During the occupation, he sheltered many Jews there to escape the Nazis.
On February 28, 1944, the Gestapo raided his home and arrested him. his daughters; his son William; And his grandson Peter, who visited. The Gestapo arrested other supporters who visited the house during the day and took about 30 people to the Scheveningen prison.

On March 9 Kasper died in a hospital in The Hague at the age of 84, after nine days in Scheveningen prison. Like all those who died there, he was buried in the Shaving Dunes. After the war, he was buried at the National Honors Cemetery in Looe.
His daughter Betsy died in Rossbrook in 1944. December. William contracted tuberculosis of the spine while imprisoned for his resistance. Although he was released, he died of tuberculosis shortly after the war. William’s son Christian (commonly known as Keck), 24, was assigned to work underground at the Berg Bells concentration camp and died there during the war.
