You want the wax to cool between 130ºF and 120ºF before proceeding for two reasons: First, if the wax is too hot, some of the essential oils may burn before setting.

Second, if you pour the wax when it’s too hot, it can cause bubbles to rise and cause holes and sinks in the top of your candle, or pull away from the glass if it cools too quickly. For these reasons it is better to wait for it to cool before adding the oil and pouring the candles.

4. While it’s cooling, start making your wicks. First, mix some of the essential oils you’re using in a shallow dish or tray (I like to use the top of a mason jar lid (without the band).
