Ive Been Here From The Beginning Spoiler – Hernán Diaz discusses Faith and Money in Fiction, John Williams Diaz discusses his second book, and Paul Fisher discusses The Man with Moving Pictures.
The novel is, to a large extent, about the myths woven around the great American economy. And the main meaning of these stories is the person who created them. And I used that word deliberately.
Ive Been Here From The Beginning Spoiler
Hernán Díaz talks about his new book “Confidence”, which is told in four parts, each of which changes the reader’s view of everything that came before.

Louis Le Prince disappeared a few months ago. And suddenly, here’s Thomas Edison, who has a reputation for being completely unethical, proclaiming it as loudly as Louis Le Prince.
Paul Fisher tells The Man Who Invented Motion Pictures, the story of French inventor Thomas Edison, a true crime mystery, and the history of early motion picture technology. Also, my colleagues Greg Coles and Liz Egan will be here to share with me what they read.
Hernan Diaz is here. His first book, Far Away, was a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize. His new book, Confidence, is about New York City and the financial world of the 20th century. And it’s creatively liberating. Hernan, thanks for talking about this.
So, two promises in advance. We will walk the audience through this step by step. This is a complex issue. And of course, in today’s terms, there are no spoilers, because you will find out a lot while reading this book. And we’re just showing people to get a piece of it for themselves.
Jodi Picoult’s ‘wish You Were Here’ Has Quite The Twist Ending
So the first thing I have to say is that you open this book and you see a beautiful page with your name “Confidence” by Hernan Diaz. And I hoped for that. Then I opened two more pages and saw another title page. Tell me about the first part of this book, how it looks. And sort of explain what it is, if you will, as it is in the book. What is this?
Indeed. I have to say – I love what you said about the experience of opening your book. I love the physical experience of reading and how the body is involved in the act of reading. A lot of care has been taken into the first thing you notice when you open the book, which is the table of contents.
So what you come across are four different verses, four verses, four books. They are independent of themselves. And this is already a sign. I hoped that the reader will become a literary seeker as soon as he looks at the book.
So the table of contents is the first data. So the first book you’ll come across that directly answers your question is called Obligations. And this is a book written by writer Harold Wanner. And it describes the rise of this rich American, perhaps one of the richest men in the world, and his relationship with his wife.
Spoiler Alert (spoiler Alert, #1) By Olivia Dade
And it’s written in that precise tone that goes back to Edith Wharton and Henry James, even though the book was written in the 1930s. And that kind of slightly sarcastic tone was interesting to me. And it’s also a book about New York, about marriage and the truth about money and the myths woven around wealth.
I’m not sure I’ve ever read a more obvious symbol, if not an oxymoron, than the character in this first book. This is his ride. He is described as someone who does not enjoy the luxuries that come with money. But he also doesn’t see it as a profitable game, like money or chess, as you might think – maybe it’s just a way of using his brain. What does Vanner, who is the author of this story, get from who is this person and what is the meaning of his life?
It’s a strange question because what worries Harold Wanner worries me too. I liked the almost mystical nature of much of the American economy, which is not dependent on goods or services, an economy that is purely mathematical and speculative.
So, as Wanner sees this tycoon, whose name is Benjamin Rusk, is almost a financial aesthetic. This is the end itself. This is money for money, if we mean the dictates of art for art’s sake. And it’s a smart move.

There is also something monastic and strict about this character. Like you said, he doesn’t enjoy all the luxuries that his wealth can afford. As he speaks in the book, he is interested in what creates money in the pursuit of money and how money can “feed your body” to create more wealth and growth.
Yes, this is one of my favorite passages in the book. Tell us briefly, and then I want to talk – because I want to refrain from many things, I want to talk more about some themes of the book in general and some of its effects. But first, just briefly discuss, and if you feel free to share, what the other three texts in the book do—directly or more generally—in terms of what interests you about the underlying issues.
The other three books – like you said in the opening, the whole book is a huge spoiler. It is very difficult to talk about something without saying something. But I will say this. The second book is very different from the first book. This is a memoir written in real life, in the world of real books, by a real rich man.
And I’m giving it because I think it’s interesting. When we read these notes, we see that it was written for a Debussy novel. So we have a real person based on the fictional tycoon in the first book. And here he himself gives the truth of his story to the readers with his own voice.

And it was written, – I read many memoirs written by quote-quote, “great men” of that time. And it’s written in a low-key, overconfident voice. And what I found while researching this part of the novel is that all these memoirs written by these great men, financiers, leaders, industry leaders, etc., are their truths, whose stories of good lives should be heard.
And that’s what I wanted to talk about in this section. It should be noted that it was written during the Trump administration. So, in fact, there was also an example of this word.
– to say the least. And also the third and fourth books, in my opinion, are short and perhaps should not be destroyed so much. But let’s say they give two more views, so now we have four different sounds.
You are right. The third and fourth books, in my opinion, are the most important books of the entire book, because as we discussed at the beginning of our discussion, the novel is mainly about fabricated stories about great wealth in America. And the main meaning of these stories is the person who created them. And I used that word deliberately.
The Last Of Us Part 2 Spoiler Review
But the truth is that these men are standing on the shoulders of many people, they have silenced the people. And Belief seeks to revisit these myths and, in the process, give voice to those who have been erased from these histories. And I see that women are completely removed from these accounts of wealth and money. In historical legends, in mythological legends, there are not only women.
Then the third and fourth books are narrated by women. The third book is narrated by the daughter of an Italian immigrant who lives in Brooklyn, near my home, and starts working as a writer on Wall Street. And he is also the voice that ties the different parts of the story together.
And in the fourth book, we finally hear from the tycoon’s wife. This is his own book. This is a very intimate article. It is very different from the rest of the book and contains many revelations that I cannot discuss now.
Well, I don’t think we made a big mistake. Still need to learn. But now let’s take a step back and talk about this – because I want to point out – maybe you don’t even think – whether you want to or not, I want to point out to the audience that we’re talking about this. puzzle a kind of way. The joy of the book is that each of these passages reads like a dream. So I just mention it to the reader. So if you’re into finance, I’d love to know what got you interested in it.
