In these days of Mother’s Day and motherhood in general, I’ve been wanting to paint a mother and child for a long time. Ever since I first saw it last fall, I’ve wanted to decipher this painting. But I kept procrastinating because I was a bit reluctant to try to draw something so incredibly beautiful. I finally started it on Monday and worked non-stop for a week. I’m sorry I didn’t use linen when painting because it was a pain to floss. I struggled with the flesh tone more than before – not sure if it was the outdoor lighting or what. Anyway, here are the results. I might tweak some parts a bit, but it’s probably done.
