The Ultimate Guide To Standout Product Packaging Design (nov. 2022)

You can create a packaging design guide that your designers can consult to make sure everything is on brand.

You’ve probably carefully designed your product to suit a specific target market, and you should do the same with your packaging. This should be done keeping in mind the tastes, needs and preferences of the consumers. The best packaging designs convey what’s inside and appeal to your target audience just like the product. If you promise something in your packaging, you must be able to deliver what you promise or you will lose customers. The phrases on the packaging should appeal to your target audience. Before thinking from a designer’s point of view, you need to consider what will benefit the customer. For example, if you have products that are not fully consumed upon opening, you should consider designing reusable packaging so that the product remains fresh. This will likely make your product more desirable. If you can make the experience of unboxing your product more fun or luxurious (depending on your brand) with some small details for your customers, it will make the product more memorable.

Packaging Designs

You want your product to stand out from the pack. Even if there aren’t any products like yours on the market (lucky you!), you want to get noticed. Even if consumers have it at home, they’re more likely to talk about your product and recommend it to others if it doesn’t blend in with the background. Colors should enhance the product, not fight against it. Typography should be distinctive but legible and work with the product logo. Combining unexpected design elements makes the packaging visually effective. There is nothing wrong with breaking the rules to make packaging more unique, but you should be careful while doing so, not to break some rules. Design with multiple goals in mind. Your packaging should look good on the shelves and be photogenic. It looks good on the Internet, in catalogs and in the press. Photos should look good on computer screens and mobile devices.

Eye Catching And Unique Packaging Designs To See

If people need a little help using your product safely or correctly, it should be on your packaging. If you have detailed information on the inside, give some basic instructions on the outside packaging. It is important to make the product as easy to use or assemble as possible because people like ease and that can drive some sales.

Packaging Designs

You need to tell people what’s inside the package, and the type of information you give depends on the type of product. Depending on the product, the information on the packaging – and how it is worded and formatted – may be required by law. Check these details before finalizing your package design to ensure that all key information for your target market is included in the correct manner. Failure to address this early can result in costly reprints, fines or lawsuits.

Your packaging should not only protect the product, but also protect it. When someone buys what you’re selling, they want it in usable condition, and it’s unacceptable for the product to be damaged due to poor packaging design. Your product must be safe and secure during routine handling and transportation, but it must be able to withstand harsh treatment. Packaging should be practical in terms of size, shape, material and functionality. Design a strong and well-built pack or start saving to get a big return. It should also maintain the quality and size of the product inside. Packaging should protect the product without unnecessary waste. Most people recycle and expect product packaging to be environmentally friendly. When designing the packaging, you need to consider how the product will be displayed. Great packaging design balances form and function and looks good while being practical. You should make the packaging easy to open, because otherwise customers may damage the product when opening it.
