Pirate Rhymes And Poems – The building was very large and full of large barrels. Moon rats wear helmets, as do cats. Milk is poured through a pipe into a chute, the machine spins while the cheesemaker stands by the vat and gently stirs.
The moon man said, “Ollie, you’re not in a mess. This is the ticket. Go home on our shuttle. We traveled Venus and also Mars, the nine most distant planets and stars.

How quickly the trip home went by, how happy he was to finally get home. His father said: “I am happy. No need to research. You were on the moon. Now you stay at home.”
My Brother Fred Has Hair That’s Red: Easy To Read Rhymes By Susan Srikant
Space Cows and Green Cheese was a creation many years ago when I was writing what I hoped would be a picture book. Picture book or not,
Is clearly a ballad; tells the story from beginning to end. Believe it or not, this poem was shrunk during the editing process. (Yes, it used to be longer.) But on to another example of a ballad poem.
He looked into her eyes and she suddenly knew that her love for him lasted forever. He looked at the captain who was leaving and passing by. Only to him his heart gives love. When Mc Haggerty caught his gaze, he felt pain. “I have to make him love me well one more time!” He challenged the captain to a sword fight. The winner will be ruled by the girl’s lover.
My Walk To School Friends
Is an original piece I wrote sometime in the early 1970s after being influenced by the book Poems That Live Forever. It was a hardcover book that contained ballad poems and ballad poetry that is still in my library. The book cover price is $4.95 which gives you an idea of how old this book is. (It’s like dating me!)
This ballad poem can be tragic or humorous, depending on which stanza you want to end it with. Back in the 1970s, I wrote two possible endings. Today I chose humor. I think I’m becoming less sophisticated as I get older. 🙂 But I added an alternative if you prefer an example of a tragic ballad poem.
Ballad poetry tells a story in verse. Although many sophisticated people despised poetry, they probably enjoyed something of the ballad poetry of their time. It turns out that rhymes are fundamental to the human condition. Translation: we love rhymes! We love them as children and as people of all ages. We enjoy the satisfaction of a good story told in well-crafted rhymes, and such is ballad poetry!
Shiver Me Timbers!: Pirate Poems & Paintings (hardback)
Before the Internet (long before the Internet), before Gutenberg and the life-changing printing press, stories were passed down from generation to generation through ballad poetry.
In the Middle Ages, itinerant minstrels (singing bards) traveled around Europe performing their stories and songs in castles and villages. Ballads are generally composed of four-line stanzas, as the two ballads on this page are written.
Now you might think of a ballad as a poem or song that tells a story in verse. If you want to write your own story, my advice is to start with the story BEFORE you try to put it into verse. If you let rhyme rule your ballad poetry, you’ll soon get used to the story coming from the tip of the pencil (or the keyboard).
Black Stallion On The Waves, Pirate Adventures (3)
It may take some time, but it’s worth the effort. Don’t stop working on it until you have a ballad you can call your own. And don’t forget to share your creations with others. They generally really enjoy it. (At least that’s my experience.) Enjoyable writing!!!
