Roynon Elementary School held its first Raccoon Rally to help raise money for next year’s school programs.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade gathered Friday afternoon to participate in the walk, and parents and teachers made sure everyone had a good time.

“We wanted to help raise money for programs that kids were directly involved in, instead of just selling them,” PTA President Dominic Alvarez said.
“The third graders are fundraising for their history program this year, and the fourth graders are walking to raise money for their outdoor science camp,” Alvarez said.
The music, popsicles and water were enough to get the students in the mood and ready to run around the grass field.

The excitement grew as the students earned their points for each lap they passed on the field.

Some students weren’t sure of the exact purpose of the walk, but they enjoyed being out with friends regardless.
“I think it’s amazing. It’s one of the funnest things Roynon has done,” said devoted parent Julie Barron. “Roynon works for our family; I have been here, my daughter is in university now, my son is here in the 3rd grade.”.
“We’ll do it again,” Sifter said. “It was electric and the kids’ enthusiasm was great.”
