( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) is an emoticon made with Unicode characters. The face is often used for spam forums and picture boards, similar to the Japanese word “desu”. On 4chan, he is also known as “Le Lenny Face” or “Le Face Face”.

Other users began derailing the thread by posting various eye emoticon derivatives that lasted for three days.

The following day, Ghanbakra uploaded another video titled “Fresh ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) /b/el Air”, which featured various animated versions of the emoji for the theme song of the 1990s sitcom Fresh Prince of Belly. Air (shown below, right). As of November 29, there are over 1,450 search results for “( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)” on YouTube.
As of November 29, 2012, there are over 150 Facebook pages with the title “(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)”.
In April 2013, it was reported that the 4chan board /b/ (Random) was flooded with an emoticon that bore a striking resemblance to Lenny’s face. The emoticon marked “( ‾ʖ̫‾)” is described by Emojikons, an online emoji dictionary, as “Keep calm and keep your face on.”

The blog wrote that his computer’s text-to-speech program pronounced the emoticon “( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)” as “deg deg”. Over the next five weeks, the post received over 112,000 likes.
A possible reason for this is that this user’s text-to-speech program was only trying to pronounce the degree marks and nothing else, because it either saw them as punctuation or didn’t know how to pronounce them.
