Twins Separated At Birth

Twins Separated At Birth – The pandemic has separated many people from their families. But one woman in Palm Beach Gardens actually met her family during this time. Molly Sinert was born in South Korea. He was adopted, and raised in Florida.

After he took a DNA test, he discovered that he had a twin sister in Philadelphia—and that they were both raised in a Jewish family. Through some twists of fate, they missed the chance to meet all year but Sinnert said fate brought them together anyway – even in the most unlikely of circumstances.

After having her DNA tested for medical reasons, Sinert randomly found out about her twin sister, Emily Bushnell, through a DNA testing app. It takes one of the children, a private message followed by a response, to reconnect the siblings.

“My daughter, our little angel, Izzy, actually did the DNA test and she’s been asking mom and dad for a while, ‘You know, can I do this? I really want to know if mom has any siblings that I can find out about,'” ‘”” said Sinert.

Sinert and Izzy exchange messages through the DNA app and discover that about 50% of Sinert’s DNA matches Izzy’s, “this unknown person at the time.” The result of the prophecy is that Izzy may be his daughter but Sinert has no children. It was “unbelievable.”

Sinert began to doubt the whole process until he dug deeper into the DNA damage.

“I was in denial for years. I didn’t feel comfortable sending our DNA to be honest. It’s Izzy. K’s interest never waned – so we finally decided to give her a birthday present a few years ago.

“I was nervous to meet him but more than anything excited. The nerves came from fearing that I wouldn’t live up to his expectations, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen,” Bushnell said. “After getting to know him over the past few weeks via text and phone, I quickly realized that we have a lot in common in this regard and he definitely feels the same way.

Sinnert said it was “hard to look in the mirror” when she first met the twins — and she never expected her life to turn out this way, since the same thing had been happening since her Jewish upbringing.

“Growing up, and even now, I identify more with my Jewish heritage than with any of my Korean cultural backgrounds. And that’s something that’s definitely changed over the past few weeks,” Sinnert said.

Sinert found Korean food and culture interesting but never embraced it or found a connection. She says she now has reason to explore that side of her identity.

“I don’t think I need another religion or culture to adopt or that, I don’t know, maybe unconsciously I think I’ll be disappointed if I get something else that my parents can’t give me, which is for sure. No,” Sinnert said. “He’s always been supportive of anything I’ve wanted to do.”

“I was always aware of my adoption, but I grew up like an average middle-class white kid in a very white suburban neighborhood,” Bushnell said. “I just look different, but not to my family.”

“The sense of disconnection from the rest of my family, my identity and the world grew and grew stronger over the years,” he said. “It wasn’t until I heard an NPR interview with another Korean-American adoptee a few years ago that I started thinking about connecting with other adoptees and diving deeper into my Korean heritage.”

Bushnell was excited that his sister wanted to embark on a similar exploration. And that means exploring the personal connections between them – birthdays, school celebrations, career moments, motherhood, marriage, and coincidental twin moments.

“Emily sent me a picture from prom and I jumped right in, went through an old album and pulled out a picture of me and my date. And we basically had the same style of dress: strapless, beaded, fitted dress,” she said. Sinert. . “We wear chokers and have the same hair. Our makeup is the same, and the way we pose in the photos we share with each other. And our dates are mirror images.

Countless twin moments. Since growing up with Russian blue cats they buy each other the same symbolic birthday gifts – matching necklaces and bracelets – the day they meet.

He even considered moving there after feeling “drawn to the city and the mountains”. Sinert said Bushnell actually lived in Boulder for a while and that’s where she gave birth to Izzy.

You didn’t tell me you were in town.’

“I think it could be a very good road,” Sinnert said. “There is a Korean Adoption Association conference that happens every few years depending on when the schedule picks up post-pandemic.”
