Vintage Slang

Vintage Slang – I’m excited to publish my second Throwback Thursday post, with another slang word from my Vintage Slang Flashcards. According to the back of the card, the spizzerinctum dates to 1891 and means “spirit, purpose, will, strength, energy” as in “Now a billionaire, always had a spizzerinctum.” Synonyms are: vim, get-up-and-go, razzle-dazzle, zip, punch, sock, oomph, moxie (a word I love and insist on saying with a 1920s Chicago Voice radio broadcast) , zizz, power, pep , dynamism and spark. Pictured here is a group of sports fans (slang for fans) showing off a lot of spizzerinctum at a sports game, with beer mugs and #1 foam fingers.
