I saw someone on Instagram following “taking their clothes off” in their stories. I thought he was crazy. I had never heard of it before. But I was curious, so I watched it all.

You see, for the past 4 years, I’ve been struggling to figure out how to get the awful smell out of our workout clothes.
Our running pants, shorts, tees, tank tops, and sports bras get a lot of love! Along with working in the gym and coaching track and field for the past 10 years, as well as being an avid runner and lifter, I live in my workout clothes. This is what I wear 90% of the time.
Plus, there’s no one on the planet who sweats more than Justin Bilyeu, so his clothes get a lot of love.

I’ll also preface this by saying that all of our workout gear is Lululemon. I worked for them a few years ago (it was a lot of fun work and I miss it sometimes) and I swear by their products. I’m investing – trust me I know. From someone who doesn’t like spending money on herself, take it from me, this is all I wear and for good reason.
Because I live in these clothes, before Lululemon I had to change pants, shorts, etc. On an annual basis. I have my Fast & Free tights which are the only thing I will run for 4 years and they still look brand new.
This not only comes from the quality of their products, but they take such good care of them.
This goes for any workout gear you have. You should never repeat your Lululemon or any workout clothes you own. You are basically throwing money away like this.

Using natural laundry detergent on your workout clothes is the same as taking your wet, sweaty, dirty clothes, soaking them in water, shaking them out, hanging them to dry, and washing and cleaning them.
Have you ever been the kid who hated taking a bath at some point in your life, so you sat in a tub full of water, splashed around, and “pretended to take a bath” so your parents would “get behind?” can feel the water. To find out you were showering “like you, where do you understand, and then being so dumb as not to bother to wet a bar of soap, so you’re completely stoned and Had to go back and shower later?”
Yes i did And that’s what it’s like to use natural laundry detergent on your smelly workout clothes. Just don’t.

But over time, with wear and tear, these nasty things build up on our clothes, making it difficult to clean.

How To Naturally Strip Laundry
One of the biggest questions I have is how did I separate everything when I did it and if there was any bleeding.
It was the worst weight loss I’ve ever done, meaning our running shirts, tank tops and sports bras.
And don’t shed blood. Our pants and shorts are mostly dark, but our tops are not. I don’t have a problem with it, but this fabric does not bleed.
However, many of mine are pink/red/purple. But they are a different soft material. So I thought they would and so I made them in the sink.
Laundry Stripping Experiment On White Towels
I wanted to make my whites stand out because they are white. And honestly, I was skeptical that it would work and I have a hard time keeping my whites, especially the Lululemon whites, from being shiny and dirty.
I have 3 white love shirts and 2 white shirts that looked awful. Yellow puddle, fast dirt on thumb hole of long sleeve. And nothing I did was ever going to remove the gray stain or make the shirts look dirty. So this was a test to see if it would actually work and OMG IT DID!
Pro Tip: If you own Lululemon Swiftys or any of their products with Silverescent® Anti-Stink Technology, you cannot use Oxiclean on them. It had a weird reaction and caused stains that couldn’t be removed (without removing them – who removed them all!??).
I wish I had such a bad before and after picture. This was the real test to know that laundry stripping is gold and it works! My white love shirts look brand new and I’ve gotten every dirty dirty gray thing off my Swifty!
