What is your favorite thinset for leveling systems? The first job I used RLS, I used Ultralite on the walls which was great. The floor I used Ultraflex II mixed a little thinner, which I do not like too much. The next one is 10″ x 30″.

I will choose your thinset based on your application, not your leveling system.

The looser mix cannot be stressed enough. The first job I used the Tuscan system on I want to know and it cost me a few hours to understand. The other thing that cannot be stressed enough is the leveling systems of any flavor do not compensate for the proper preparation work.

Tile Spacers (tile Levelling System)
I have always used RLS with great results. Never tried the Tuscan system. Maybe when I finish the clips I’ll give it a shot. Maybe try the MLT too.
I think the Leveltecs look very interesting. I like the toolless look. If you can’t buy it though..
I just ordered the ruby caps and straps. I already had the tool (I got it for free). So I think I’ll try the level system. All I do these days is straight marble and rectified porcelain. I wouldn’t mind a little help, even if it almost seems like cheating.

Didn’t like the level deck, the edges of the hood hold against the tiles. Quite annoying. looks like duplo :salmon:

I just ordered the Montolit system, $40 for 500 clips, $20 for 100 wedges. I upgraded after the first job with them.

The price point is very affordable. It is a simple two-part system and half of the wedge can be reused. $140 set me up with 500 clips 250 wedges and the tightening tool. When I go to re-order (which I sure will) I just need to buy clips.

I have installed 18″ tiles using only one clip per side and there is practically zero leakage. I am sold.
I haven’t used it yet. But I started a kitchen remodel on Monday: 14×14 floors. It will be my first time using it.
This is an older thread, you can’t get a reply, and it may be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread. The LFT Thinset is very durable. I have some where I didn’t clean the clips really that perfectly, and the snap didn’t slide to the base. Kept on the fake piece of plastic.

The clips can be made in two parts, the upper part is removable and reusable… it will add cost, but save money and time.
The use of these systems can create voids under the tiles, depending on the amount that must be leveled due to lippage? You would think this would make the finished result better, but it makes the tiles more vulnerable to cracking

The flatter the surface you start with, the better – there is no change. They accelerate the process of eliminating lippage, this is their goal.

The opposite is true. The systems draw the tile. Think of it this way. When you hang a tile, how do you get it back? If you tried to lift it straight up, it would never move. You have to tap it (or put a lever on it).
When you use a level system, the system creates a downward force and actually forces the tile. Most of the time you will have to clean the growth lines from the oozing that occurs.

I have never used one of these systems due to the fact that the tile work I have done has not been in any type of large format tile. I know you can use it on any size tile, but even for 12x12s I do a decent amount of surface preparation to avoid any lippage caused by the substrate and haven’t encountered any difficulty keeping the floors flat for more than A little extra time. But not enough. To justify buying one of these systems. I have a larger tile job that involves large format tiles and wanted to explore a system to make it easier for me.

I use the system for 12×12 and above. You need to know how to level the tile before using these systems, because they are not a substitute for knowledge. However, they speed up production and make the investment worthwhile.
RLS is the best bang for your buck, IMO. No tools are needed and the wedges will last forever. I got the bucket full of wedges and 2000 clips for about $ 400. It is enough to do several baths, on the floor and field tile in the shower.
Hey guys, I’ve been reading a lot of discussions about level systems and I think I’ve settled on the Raimondi. This is actually my first time at tiling, I’ve always been nervous about it, but it’s my house so I thought I’d do it for the experience.
Rubi Tile Level Quick Kit
I followed my bathroom layout that a contractor did for me a couple of years ago. I was ready to order the regular RLS clips and then I saw the 3D clips. Does anyone have experience with them? I think I should go with the normal clips since the edges of the tile are a little lower than the center where the “T” will be
