Best Poetry Books

Best Poetry Books – Good day friends! Since my year 2015 was very much about poetry books, I want to share with you the books that made it to my top list, even for the year 2015.

I rekindled my love for poetry last year in 2015, and I had no idea that my collection of poetry books would grow so quickly. I am currently 74 years old. 🙂 My dream of filling a bookcase with only poetry books is becoming a reality and I couldn’t be happier.

The Best Poetry Books To Read In 2022

I have been asked many times by people who want to find poetry where to start. And I’m more than happy to make recommendations. Well, I don’t claim to be a good poetry reader, I’ll just say that I’ve read a few more poetry books than the average reader, so no one can stop me from making recommendations. Well, I want everyone to love poetry, because seriously, what is love? I believe that if only people would take the time to read poetry, the world would have a chance to become a better place. I mean, poems send so many emotions, open-mindedness, powerful messages and are just wonderful tools to express yourself. If we just take the time to appreciate him, we can be more compassionate and more rational. Yes! That’s just my 2 cents.

So let’s move on to my top poetry books for 2015. That doesn’t mean they’re 2015 (obviously) but these are the books I read that year. Raven is a re-read but I added it too. And it is in no particular order.

Following the success of her breakout poem, “Be,” Sarah Kay releases her first collection of poetry, featuring work from the first decade of her career. No Matter the Wreckage provides listeners with fresh and endearing poetry that showcases Key’s talent for celebrating family, love, travel, and the unlikely romance between inanimate objects (“a toothbrush to a bicycle tire”). Both fresh and intelligent, Kay’s poetry allows listeners to embark on a journey of self-discovery and the world around her. This is an honest and powerful combination.

Bold Monkey Review: Bukowski’s Best Poetry Books: A Reader’s Appraisal After 25 Years Of Buk’s Death Of Collections Published During His Lifetime (1946 1994)

Another book that I have mentioned a lot. I couldn’t stop it. His poems are very important. It is literally everything.

Epic made simple. The wonder of the world. One day, while browsing an antique store in Helena, Montana, photographer Tyler Knott Gregson stumbled upon an old Remington typewriter for sale. Standing and using a page from a book he buys for $2, he writes poems without thinking, without planning and without the ability to revise anything. He fell in love. Three years and nearly a thousand poems later, Tyler is now known as the creator of the Typewriter Series: a masterful collection of poems typed on loose scraps of paper or produced using the blackout method. Chasers of the Light contains some of his most striking and beautiful spoken word work—poems that illuminate great deeds and small glimpses, poems that celebrate the beauty of a life spent chasing the light.

Long Liu’s work will always remind me why I love poetry. She writes poems about love and heartbreak that are so relatable, it’s as if they were written for you. Memories is his third collection of poetry.

Books I Love: Five Poetry Collections You Should Read

A book of poetry that I did not prepare. It discussed a sensitive issue – adultery. This collection of poems is about a young man’s life after rape. The poems are very vivid but hidden. Very powerful reading.

Lauren Berry’s poetry debut and sentimental first collection offer a gothic Southern vision that Flannery O’Connor would have recognized. Set in a feverish swamp town in Florida, The Lifting Dress enters the life of a teenage girl the day she is sexually assaulted. She refuses to tell anyone what happened, and quietly moves into adulthood in a community that offers beauty but rejects forgiveness. Through the narrative of the lyrics, the reader sees her move between mirroring and rejecting the world’s anxious warmth, until she finally embraces it with the same fierce love it was given to her.

Oh he made me cry. It went home. Especially because I can relate to it, because my father also died of cancer. This collection of poems is about living with someone who has cancer. It captures the reality of what actually happens in the daily life of a person with cancer and those around them. This book of poetry is so beautiful, it’s really sad.

“The Year of What Now is not a poetry book about cancer.” This is not a book that wears its heart on its sleeve. It does not parade the biography in your face, although the conventions seem at first to be an autobiography. This is not a cry for extremism, de profundis, etc. More comfortable, more simple, more casually structured, more philosophical. . . This book shows me the way forward for other young poets in his expansive engagement with the world, his unabashed embrace of the personal, and his relatable skepticism about the limits of subjective discourse. At its deepest level, it represents a desire to establish the true orders of disease from the cellular level to the most abstract processes of culture, technology, and possibly the spirit world.

I found myself nodding throughout the book. It is so beautiful, it perfectly describes the complexities of love. I love it so much. Easily went to the top of my list.

Ugly People Beautiful Hearts is a book of over 70 poems that reflect sadness, quiet sadness, waves of happiness, and joy in the fact that everything you have is going to be okay. But it is kind of beautiful in its own right. Her verses move between the feelings of loving someone, feeling lost, trusting the night sky, losing your light, solving grief is beautiful, and finding compassion in a stranger’s smile.

Emerging poet Jamie Sharpe presents a finely crafted second collection Cut-up Apologetic, Sharpe’s second collection, explores coming of age in a world where youth is terrifying and requires something to let’s go back. These are poems about not leaving our mark while marks remain on us – about the collective dissatisfaction of emptying the environment in an effort to fill ourselves. At the same time, Cut Up is apologetic and playful even as it examines the fear expressed as depression or the ways that anxiety has turned into a cultural death knell. Sharpe finds strange new horizons that “grow(ing) / just back, in memory.”

Sylvia Plath fascinated me for a long time, her death remained mysterious. This book explains that he is amazing. I liked it.

Ariel is Sylvia Plath’s second book of poetry to be published, and was originally published in 1965, two years after her death by suicide. The poems in Ariel, with their free-flowing imagery and particularly haunting psychological scenes, mark a marked turn from Plath’s earlier poems in Colossus.
